Mong Cai: Holy Mother Temple Festival 2025

As an annual tradition, on the 23rd day of the 3rd lunar month (April 20), Tra Co ward organizes the Holy Mother Temple Festival to preserve the pure Vietnamese Mother worship culture and bring visitors and locals many unique cultural experiences.

The main festival of the Holy Mother Temple is on the 23rd day of the third lunar month every year, which is said to be the birthday of the Holy Mother Thien Hau. This year, the Holy Mother Temple Festival in Tra Co Ward takes place for 4 days, from April 17 to April 20, 2025, with the ceremony and festival parts. Accordingly, the ceremony part includes the procession and offering ceremony of the people and officials of Dong Thinh Ward, the incense offering ceremony of the monks, nuns, Buddhists and people inside and outside the ward; the offering ceremony; the statue transfer ceremony. The festival part includes: Art program to welcome the festival and folk games such as tug of war, net weaving, blindfolded drum beating; opening ceremony; Holy Mother Temple Festival; Mother's procession; An vi ceremony and closing ceremony of the festival.

During the festival days, the children of Tra Co homeland from all over the country and visitors from all over the world respectfully prepare offerings to Thien Hau Thanh Mau; at the same time, many artistic activities and flower offering dances are organized, imbued with the culture of the Vietnamese people in coastal areas.

It is known that Thien Hau Thanh Mau Temple has been ranked as a provincial-level relic by the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province according to Decision No. 166/QD-UBND dated January 18, 2023. The temple is located in Dong Thinh area, Tra Co ward, this is an ancient temple worshiping Thien Hau Thanh Mau and the four mothers, the temple is considered very sacred and is visited by people and many tourists. In the temple grounds, there is a shrine to Thien Mau in front of the sacred fish pond. The temple preserves ancient vestiges with an ancient chay tree about 700 years old; next to the temple is Tien well, which is said to have never dried up, people in the village often come to get water to make tea because the water is clear and sweet.
