The culinary website TasteAtlas announced the list of the 100 best dishes in the world in 2024, including the only representative of Vietnam.
The list, which is published at the end of each year, continues to be controversial, with the world's top cuisines missing out and some of the top dishes deemed unworthy. The New York Post commented: " TasteAtlas has taken a risk by revealing its list of the 100 most delicious foods on earth for 2024. How do they come up with such a divisive list? Americans may be proud of some of the dishes that appear on the list, but sadly, the UK has none."
The dish called Lechona surprisingly took the number 1 position.

Coming in at number one is Colombian Lechona, a pork dish made with marinated pork, peas, onions, and more, layered in salted pork skin. "The skin is sewn tightly to encase the rich filling, then slow-roasted for hours to achieve a golden, crispy exterior and a tender, flavorful interior."
In second place is Italy's Neapolitan pizza. This minimalist dish consists of a thin crust topped with a tomato-based sauce flavored with garlic and oregano, mozzarella cheese and fresh basil leaves, the colors of which are said to represent the Italian flag.
Good beef may seem synonymous with premium Japanese Wagyu, but TasteAtlas fans voted Brazilian beef the best, with Brazil's Picanha steak coming in third.
Pho is the only representative of Vietnam on the list.

The only Vietnamese representative on the list is beef pho. TasteAtlas says that this version of beef pho is made with beef cuts and broth made from beef bones, beef shank, and tail, while toppings include brisket, core, cooked and raw beef (rare flank), tendon, or beef balls.
Beef noodle soup is often flavored with dried spices such as cinnamon and star anise. It is served hot in a bowl with rice noodles, often topped with cilantro, sliced onions, and chopped green onions.
The remaining positions in the top 10 include: Rechta (Algeria), Phanaeng Curry (Thailand), Asado (Argentina), Çökertme kebabı (Türkiye), Rawon (Indonesia), Cağ kebabı (Türkiye), Tibs (Ethiopia).
