There must be a detailed and thorough script to help Xuan Son make his best comeback.
Xuan Son went under the knife on January 6 (one day after the second leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final in Thailand). One of the most important stages is the stage when he is preparing to return to competition.
The audience has been waiting for this moment.
That is phase 4 (4-6 months after surgery) – the decisive phase for Xuan Son’s career. After about 4 months, when his muscles, bones and joints have recovered significantly, Xuan Son enters the final phase of the recovery process – preparing to return to competition. The main goal of this phase is to fully restore mobility and coordination, ensuring he can compete at a high level.
Xuan Son continues to practice exercises simulating real-life competition situations, helping him get used to fast and powerful movements, similar to those in real matches. Exercises on body coordination and technical skills are focused on improving speed, strength and quick reaction time.
VFF, Vinmec and Nam Dinh Club put a lot of resources into helping Xuan Son have a perfect treatment process.
This is the stage where Xuan Son will be tested on his abilities in a simulated competition environment, thereby adjusting the necessary skills before returning to the official field.
Recovery time and forecast: After 6 months, if the recovery process goes smoothly, Xuan Son can completely return to official competition. However, ensuring that he can reintegrate with the national team and compete at a high level requires a thorough preparation process.
If there are no complications, Xuan Son will come back strong.
Master Nguyen Quyet Thang - Chief Technician of the Orthopedic Trauma and Sports Medicine Center at Vinmec Hospital said: “Xuan Son's rehabilitation process is divided into 4 stages with clear goals. In the first 1-2 weeks, the goal is to control pain, activate neuromuscular and restore mobility and prevent complications if any. The next stages aim to increase strength, improve range of motion, balance and physical preparation. After 6 months of maximum intensity training, if meeting the standards, Son will be allowed to compete again.”
It is expected that after about 8 months, if there are no complications and the recovery process is not hindered, Xuan Son can reach his peak performance, return strongly and make important contributions to the national team. Thus, around July 2025, Xuan Son will be allowed to return and by around September 2025, he can regain his peak performance as he originally had.
The injury is not only a challenge for Xuan Son but also an opportunity for him to demonstrate his perseverance, effort and tireless fighting spirit. Scientific and reasonable recovery steps will help Xuan Son return to the field soon and continue to contribute to the Vietnam national team.
