The General Statistics Office's socio-economic report for February 2024 shows that in February this year, nearly 8,600 new enterprises were established nationwide, down 36.5% compared to the previous month and down 2.8% compared to the same period last year.
In addition, more than 5,300 enterprises returned to operation; 5,146 enterprises registered to temporarily suspend business for a period of time; 2,153 enterprises stopped operating pending dissolution procedures; 1,506 enterprises completed dissolution procedures.
In the first two months of 2024, the whole country had 41.1 thousand newly registered enterprises and returned to operation, an increase of 8.5% over the same period last year. On average, there were more than 20.5 thousand newly established enterprises and returned to operation per month.

The number of enterprises withdrawing from the market was 63 thousand, an increase of 22.5% over the same period last year. On average, nearly 31.5 thousand enterprises withdrew from the market per month.
Regarding the import and export situation of goods, in February 2024, the total import and export turnover of goods is estimated at 48.54 billion USD, down 25.8% compared to the previous month and down 1.8% compared to the same period last year.
In the first two months of 2024, the total import and export turnover of goods is estimated at 113.96 billion USD, up 18.6% over the same period last year, of which exports increased by 19.2% and imports increased by 18%.
The trade balance of goods had a trade surplus of 4.72 billion USD (the same period last year had a trade surplus of 3.5 billion USD).
In the first two months of 2024, the US was Vietnam's largest export market with an estimated turnover of 17.4 billion USD. China was Vietnam's largest import market with an estimated turnover of 20.9 billion USD.
