Hundreds of types of Southern folk cakes are displayed, promoted and served to visitors at the 12th Southern Folk Cake Festival held in Can Tho.

On the afternoon of April 5, the second day of the 12th Southern Traditional Cake Festival 2025 took place at the square area of ​​Binh Thuy district ( Can Tho city).

The festival takes place from April 4 to 8, with the opening ceremony taking place tomorrow evening (April 6). The festival will have 231 booths including a space for traditional cakes (118 booths); a space for regional specialties (59 booths); a culinary space (40 booths) with the participation of 18 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region and provinces in the North, Central, and Central Highlands such as Ha Tinh, Hue, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Dak Lak, etc.

In addition to the stalls selling and serving local people and tourists, the organizers also arranged a space for making rice paper, recreating Thuan Hung rice paper craft village, along with an area for artisans to instruct on how to make some traditional Southern cakes such as banh it, banh tet, banh kep, banh phu linh, banh tam se tay... for tourists and students to experience.

According to the organizers, this year's Southern folk cake festival attracted about 100 artisans to participate in the folk cake competition and perform many types of cakes to serve visitors.

Displaying and introducing about 100 types of traditional cakes along with many attractive dishes, cuisines and hundreds of regional specialties, OCOP products of the whole country.

The Southern Traditional Cake Festival is a large-scale event, held annually in Can Tho city, to contribute to the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values ​​and culinary culture of Can Tho city, the Mekong Delta region and provinces and cities across the country.

This is also an opportunity for provinces and cities across the country to exchange culture, honor and promote traditional cakes and cuisine between regions.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, Vice Chairwoman of Can Tho City People's Committee, said that the new point of this year's festival is that the organizing committee will waive 25% of the space fee (from 8 million VND to 6 million VND/booth) for artisans to encourage them to participate and be creative, serving tourists.
