Up to this point, Binh Son district of Quang Ngai province has only met 2/9 criteria, so the plan to bring the northern gateway district to the new rural finish line by 2024 is difficult to achieve.
"Powerless" with the plan to have 1 more new rural district in 2024
On the morning of October 27, according to Dan Viet reporter, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Ngai reported to the competent authority on the implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction (NTM) in the province in 2024.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Ngai, the initial plan for 20241 of the province is to strive to bring Binh Son district and Duc Pho town to meet the new rural standards/complete the task of building new rural areas; 6 communes to meet the new rural standards and 10 communes to meet the advanced new rural standards.
However, in July 2024, after the Central authority announced the adjustment (goals and tasks of implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction for the 2021-2025 period assigned to provinces and cities), Quang Ngai province adjusted the plan and goals previously set for 2024.
Specifically, at the district, town and city levels of the province, strive to have 1 more locality meeting the NTM standards, Binh Son district (reducing 1 locality, Duc Pho town); 6 communes meeting the NTM standards and 9 communes (reducing 1) meeting the advanced NTM standards.
However, up to this point, at the district level, Binh Son has only met 2/9 criteria (criterion number 3 on Irrigation and Disaster Prevention, criterion number 4 on electricity); the remaining 7/9, the departments and units assigned to be in charge are currently reviewing and establishing supporting documents according to regulations.

And with the above results, the goal of 2024, bringing 1 more district (Binh Son) to the NTM finish line of Quang Ngai province is very difficult to achieve.
Good news for the commune-level new rural development target
In contrast to the district, town and city levels, the results of implementing the new rural development target at the commune level (according to the 2024 plan) of Quang Ngai province have shown more positive signs.

Specifically, for the goal of bringing 6 more communes to the NTM finish line by 2024, up to this point, in Tra Bong district, Tra Giang commune basically met 19/19 criteria; Tra Tan commune met 17/19 criteria.
Ba To district, including Ba Dien commune, achieved 13/19 criteria; Ba Lien commune, achieved 15/19 criteria; Minh Long district, including Long Hiep commune, achieved 18/19 criteria; Son Ha district, including Son Ky commune, achieved 16/19 criteria.
The results of the implementation of the target of 9 communes achieving advanced NTM by 2024, including Nghia Hiep commune, Tu Nghia district, achieved 17/19 criteria; communes in Quang Ngai city, Tinh An Tay commune and Tinh Long commune both achieved 19/19 criteria, Nghia Dung commune achieved 18/19 criteria, Nghia Ha commune achieved 17/19 criteria, Tinh An commune achieved 16/19 criteria.

The number of localities in Son Tinh district is Tinh Phong commune, which achieved 11/19 criteria; Tinh Ha commune, which achieved 12/19 criteria, and Pho Thuan commune, Duc Pho town, which achieved 16/19 criteria.

It is known that in the whole Quang Ngai province, 97/148 communes have been recognized as NTM standards (reaching a rate of 65.54%), 8 communes have met advanced NTM standards and 2 districts of Nghia Hanh and Tu Nghia have been recognized as NTM (period 2016-2020).
