The province currently has 113 OCOP products, including 6 4-star OCOP products and 107 3-star OCOP products. In recent years, in addition to constantly improving quality, innovating packaging and product designs, OCOP entities in the province have proactively approached and grasped new business trends, and developed consumer markets.
Accordingly, in addition to traditional sales channels, the province's OCOP entities have proactively approached, exploited and used social networking platforms, e-commerce platforms, and websites to introduce and sell products. According to information from the Department of Industry and Trade, of the province's 113 OCOP products, about 20% of entities have put their products on e-commerce platforms; more than 70% of OCOP entities promote and sell products through social networking sites such as Facebook, Zalo, etc.
Ms. Vuong Thi Thuong, Director of Toan Thuong Agricultural Cooperative, Na Sam town, Van Lang district, said: In November 2023, the Cooperative's wind-dried Persimmon and dried Persimmon products were evaluated and classified as 3-star OCOP products. To expand customer access channels and increase business efficiency, in addition to direct sales, the Cooperative has promoted the application of e-commerce. Accordingly, the Cooperative has built an online sales website called nongsantoanthuong.vn and exploited e-commerce platforms and social networks such as Shopee, TikTok, Facebook... to promote and consume products. Currently, on average, the Cooperative sells from 100 to 200 products per month through online sales channels and the consumption market has also been expanded to other provinces and cities such as: Hanoi , Bac Ninh, Bac Giang...
In addition to e-commerce, OCOP entities also proactively approach large, modern retail channels such as supermarkets, shopping malls, convenience stores, etc. to bring products to consumption. Typically, some OCOP products such as Lua Vy fish mint tea, Van Linh dried extract, etc. have been sold on the shelves of Thanh Do, Binh Cam, Dong Tien supermarkets, etc.
Ms. Vi Thi Lua, Director of the Vy Silk Agricultural Products Processing Cooperative, Quan Son Commune, Chi Lang District, said: With the goal of developing products and expanding the consumption market through large and reputable retail channels, in recent times, the Cooperative has always focused on improving the quality and design of products to meet the requirements of distributors in order to put products on supermarket shelves. Currently, the two 3-star OCOP products of the Cooperative, namely fish mint tea and wild guava tea, have been sold in 3 supermarkets in the province (Dong Tien, Binh Cam, Lasvilla) and some convenience stores in Thai Nguyen and Cao Bang provinces. Currently, on average, each month, the number of products sold by the Cooperative through modern retail channels ranges from 200 to 500 products.
In particular, one of the sales channels that has been effectively exploited by OCOP entities is the OCOP product introduction and sales points. Accordingly, in recent times, relevant sectors and units have deployed support for enterprises, cooperatives, and production households to build OCOP product introduction and sales points. Currently, the whole province has 13 points and stores displaying, introducing and selling OCOP products, of which 3 points of sale are supported by the Department of Industry and Trade of the province for design costs and equipment purchases, and 10 points of sale are built by enterprises and cooperatives themselves.
Ms. Ly Phuong Hien, Director of Na Lang Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative, Binh Gia Town, Binh Gia District, said: At the end of 2024, the Cooperative was supported by the Department of Industry and Trade with 170 million VND for design costs, equipment purchases (signs, counters, shelves, display racks, product storage cabinets, etc.) to complete and put into operation the OCOP product introduction and sales point in Ngoc Quyen block, Binh Gia Town. At the point of sale, we not only display the Cooperative's 3-star OCOP product Tra Moc Ho Diep but also proactively cooperate with other OCOP entities to put products on sale. Accordingly, currently, the Cooperative's point of sale is displaying over 30 OCOP products, typical and typical products of Lang Son province and some OCOP products of other provinces such as Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, etc. Since its inception, the point of sale has attracted the attention of many customers, thereby helping to promote and increase product consumption. On average, the store welcomes 20 to 30 visitors every day to visit and shop.
Ms. Nguyen Hong Linh, Deputy Head of the Trade Management Division, Department of Industry and Trade, informed: In the past time, OCOP entities in the province have been proactive and flexible in connecting and bringing products to consumption through many sales channels, especially e-commerce. In the coming time, the division will continue to advise the department to coordinate in implementing trade promotion activities; organize seminars and training conferences to improve knowledge about e-commerce for enterprises, cooperatives, and OCOP entities to participate, thereby helping establishments gradually improve their sales skills, manage business activities and expand their consumption markets. At the same time, in 2025, the division will continue to advise the department to arrange capital to support enterprises, cooperatives, and production and business households to complete infrastructure, put into operation 3 points to introduce and sell OCOP products.
According to the assessment of some OCOP subjects, thanks to the diversification of sales channels, the number of product consumption has increased by 30 - 40% compared to when only applying traditional sales methods. From there, it can be seen that the diversification of consumption channels not only helps increase business efficiency for OCOP subjects but also contributes positively to promoting and bringing the province's OCOP products to consumers.
