The expansion of Cau Gie - Ninh Binh expressway will help synchronize with the North-South expressway sections.

Cau Gie - Ninh Binh Expressway Project Phase 1 invested by VEC with a scale of 4 lanes, 2 emergency lanes, was put into operation in 2012. Currently, the traffic volume on the section through Ha Nam reaches more than 60,000 vehicles per day and night, often congested on weekends and holidays. With the current scale, the expressway does not ensure the traffic needs of vehicles in the future.

The expansion of the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh expressway also helps synchronize with adjacent North-South expressway sections such as Phap Van - Cau Gie, which is currently operating with 6 lanes, and the Cao Bo - Mai Son section, which is being expanded to a complete 6 lanes.

In addition, Hanoi and other localities are building Ring Road 4, expected to be put into operation from 2027, the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh expressway section needs to be expanded to meet the increasing demand for vehicles.
