That is what happened when Chinese archaeologists opened the tomb of the daughter of the founder of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang. The princess was named Fuqing, one of the emperor Zhu Yuanzhang's favorite children. Zhu Yuanzhang had 26 sons and 16 daughters.
In history books, Princess Phuc Thanh was intelligent, beautiful, dignified, and proficient in music, chess, calligraphy, and painting, so she stood out more than her siblings.
Some documents record that Zhu Yuanzhang allowed his daughter to intervene in the affairs of the court. Occasionally, Princess Fuqing would give her opinions to help her father 'handle' difficult problems of the court.

At the age of 47, Princess Phuc Thanh passed away. She was buried in a majestic mausoleum on An Duc Son mountain (now in Nanjing city, China).
In 1998, the Chinese Bureau of Cultural Relics discovered the tomb of Princess Fuqing. Upon inspection, experts found that the tomb had a dome design with two compartments. The tomb containing Princess Fuqing's coffin was located in the innermost corner of the tomb.
After excavation, the princess's body and the treasures in the tomb were brought to the research facility.

In 2019, experts opened the tomb to carry out a restoration and repair project and were surprised to discover that there was a person lying on top of the coffin. Moreover, this person was still alive. The scene terrified the experts. Moreover, there were many clothes and belongings around him.
The man said he was a worker working nearby. Because he didn't have enough money to rent a house, he sneaked into the mausoleum to live because he discovered that there was no one looking after the relic.
Upon closer investigation, experts were even more surprised to find that there was not just one person but about 20-30 people living in the tomb. They all had difficult circumstances like the worker. Every day, they went to work outside and returned to sleep in the tomb at night.
They said that living inside the tomb was quite good because it was warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Because the tomb was in a remote location, not many people knew they lived there.
Experts persuaded those living in the tomb to move out to protect the current state of the relic site. (Photo: Sohu)
Experts persuaded the people living in the tomb to move out to protect the current state of the relic site. Only then could experts carry out the work of protecting and preserving the tomb of Princess Phuc Thanh.
