Opening the princess's grave, experts were horrified to discover a living person on the coffin.

That is what happened when Chinese archaeologists opened the tomb of the daughter of the founder of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang. The princess was named Fuqing, one of the emperor Zhu Yuanzhang's favorite children. Zhu Yuanzhang had 26 sons and 16 daughters.

In history books, Princess Phuc Thanh was intelligent, beautiful, dignified, and proficient in music, chess, calligraphy, and painting, so she stood out more than her siblings.

Some documents record that Zhu Yuanzhang allowed his daughter to intervene in the affairs of the court. Occasionally, Princess Fuqing would give her opinions to help her father 'handle' difficult problems of the court.

At the age of 47, Princess Phuc Thanh passed away. She was buried in a majestic mausoleum on An Duc Son mountain (now in Nanjing city, China).

In 1998, the Chinese Bureau of Cultural Relics discovered the tomb of Princess Fuqing. Upon inspection, experts found that the tomb had a dome design with two compartments. The tomb containing Princess Fuqing's coffin was located in the innermost corner of the tomb.

After excavation, the princess's body and the treasures in the tomb were brought to the research facility.
