The intensive shrimp farming model using water circulation technology owned by Mr. Le Van Sy (Ky Thu commune, Ky Anh district, Ha Tinh) achieved an output of more than 22 tons, with a profit of over 1 billion VND.
After nearly 3 months of farming, Mr. Le Van Sy's shrimp farm is estimated to have reached a yield of over 22 tons.
During the farming process, Mr. Le Van Sy realized that shrimp farming according to the water circulation process has many advantages, especially good management of pond water resources, limiting diseases. In January 2023, he invested billions of VND, hired workers and machinery to rebuild the pond system and invested in modern equipment to raise shrimp according to this process.
On a total area of 3 hectares, Mr. Sy has used 2/3 of the area to build ponds including: 1 settling pond, 1 pond to treat input water, 1 pond to collect wastewater from the farming pond, 2 ponds to store water that has been treated through a biological filter layer and 1 final pond called the ready pond (containing a water source that ensures all factors to supply to the farming pond whenever needed).
The pond system is invested in a systematic way to limit the impact of the environment on shrimp development.
The model is supported by the Center for Application of Science and Technology and Protection of Plants and Livestock in Ky Anh district with technical support and detailed instructions on the care process.
The pond water is not discharged into the environment but is treated for reuse in a closed cycle, all environmental factors are well controlled. This allows long-term farming at high density, limiting diseases, saving water resources, reducing production costs and creating safe products. In addition, shrimp are raised with environmentally friendly biological products to help absorb nutrients thoroughly and increase resistance.
Mr. Le Van Sy harvests shrimp to sell to traders.
After renovating the pond system, Mr. Sy started releasing shrimp from the beginning of May 2023 with a quantity of 1 million shrimp, density of 250 shrimp/ m2 . After more than 3 months of raising, the shrimp reached a survival rate of 85%, weight of 38 shrimp/kg, estimated output of more than 22 tons, bringing a profit of more than 1 billion VND for the family.
It is known that the shrimp farming model applying water circulation technology is applied for the first time in the district. This is also a model for local households to visit, learn from experience and replicate in the future.
