Multimedia journalism model meets development requirements

Thereby, innovating the way of operation, from the production and distribution of content, meeting political tasks and creating public appeal.

During the past term, the Provincial Media Center model has developed in the right direction, operated effectively, created strong changes in the methods of operation, management, administration, maximum application of technology in the process of content production and distribution, optimized the use of human resources and facilities of press agencies performing the same information and propaganda functions in one area. At the same time, it has overcome the overlapping situation in organization and reduced the production costs of previous press programs and works, improved the quality of press types and products, especially modern media products such as: Live, longform, e-magazine; infographic; podcast, livestream, video production, live television - radio...

In particular, the Center is focusing on developing digital infrastructure to share press data, improve the quality of reporters and editors in a professional manner, and keep up with modern journalism trends. Reporter Cao Minh Duc, News Department, shared: For live news events, updating developments, right at the scene, we have to write news as quickly as possible, by applying software technology to convert paper documents to electronic documents; applying voice-to-text software. At the same time, edit photos directly on the phone. Send news, photos and clips via Zalo so that the technical team can promptly process and post them on the Center's infrastructure. With the above working method, information about events is promptly delivered to readers in a very short period of time.

Currently, the Provincial Media Center has 2 TV channels QTV1, QTV3 broadcasting 24/24 hours daily; 2 radio channels QNR1, QNR2 broadcasting 18 hours/channel/day, Quang Ninh Daily Newspaper, Quang Ninh Weekend Newspaper, Ha Long Newspaper (2 issues/month), Hoa Sen Special Edition (1 issue/month), Quang Ninh Electronic Newspaper, General Electronic Information Portal, Quang Ninh Media application and social networking platforms (facebook, youtube, zalo, tiktok).

Implementing Resolution 09/NQ-TU (dated February 5, 2022) of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee on comprehensive digital transformation of Quang Ninh province by 2025, with a vision to 2030, the Center has developed a Digital Transformation Project for the Quang Ninh Provincial Media Center for the period 2022-2026 with the goal of automating operational processes, optimizing operating costs, shortening and accelerating the process of producing press works to promptly meet the needs and interests of audiences, listeners, readers, etc. Gradually doing a good job of increasing interaction between the multimedia newsroom and the audience through applications such as: Chatbot, AI, IoT, bigdata...

The Provincial Media Center has implemented the Project to upgrade the Quang Ninh electronic newspaper and build and deploy the Quang Ninh Media application on the OTT platform for smart mobile devices with online television, online radio, reviewing radio and television programs, reading electronic newspapers... Up to now, the "QuangNinh Media" application has over 17,000 users. The Quang Ninh electronic newspaper on the new content management platform (CMS) has integrated online radio and television features; in addition, the content management software can also be used on phones and tablets to improve the speed of editing and producing news and articles. The new software also integrates AI voice technology to help readers listen to all articles without having to look at the screen.

In order to innovate the reader experience, the Center promotes the effectiveness of social networking sites. Up to now, the QMG Fanpage - Quang Ninh News 24/7 on Facebook has nearly 340,000 followers. From 2022, the Center has also built a specialized fanpage to introduce destinations, unique cuisine, and attractive travel experiences in the province, called the Quang Ninh Entertainment 24/7 fanpage. Up to now, the page has 23,000 followers, contributing to actively promoting Quang Ninh tourism.

Quang Ninh TV channel on Youtube currently has over 145,000 registered accounts; TikTok channel currently has nearly 63,000 followers. Many live TV broadcasts have up to 21,000 likes, nearly 8,800 comments and over 600,000 views. Regular live radio broadcasts also receive interaction and follow-up from a large number of readers and listeners.

In addition, in 2022, the Center launched Quang Ninh Podcast on the SPOTIFY application, Apple Podcast (with iOS operating system), Google (with Android operating system) and listened directly on the website: www.baoquangninh.vn, Quang Ninh Electronic Newspaper is currently in the top 10 local Party newspaper units with the most visitors and longest page stay time.

The number of self-produced news and articles increased by more than 30% compared to before the merger of the province's information and press agencies; the number of multimedia press works on new media platforms increased by more than 70%. The form and presentation of press products are increasingly professional, attractive, and appealing to the public. From there, the method of live television and radio broadcasting has been enhanced, increasing interaction with the press public.

Implementing the assessment and measurement of the maturity level of digital transformation of the press according to the Ministry of Information and Communications (now the Ministry of Science and Technology), in 2023, the Provincial Media Center achieved 63.75/100 points, at the Fair level, among 13.19% of press agencies nationwide reaching this level. In 2024, the Center achieved the Good level with 82.78/100 points, ranking 23rd in the local Party Newspaper block.
