Cay Gao Hamlet does community tourism
In recent years, the Harvest Festival has been held in the hometown of the late Prime Minister Pham Van Dong (Cay Gao hamlet, Duc Tan commune, Mo Duc district). The festival recreates the old village scene, honors the profession of growing rice, processing food from rice..., attracting a large number of students, locals and tourists to participate.
With a variety of activities such as rice harvesting, rice threshing, rice grating; folk games such as sack jumping, tug of war, blindfolded duck catching, monkey bridge crossing, fishing game... along with many typical dishes, the festival creates a vibrant, exciting atmosphere and contributes to increasing income for the local community.
According to Vice Chairman of Duc Tan Commune People's Committee Tran Le Vuong Vu, the characteristic of Duc Tan Commune is wet rice cultivation with large, fertile rice fields along the winding Thoa River, creating a beautiful countryside scene.
In particular, there is the Prime Minister Pham Van Dong Memorial Site, which welcomes over 50,000 visitors each year, so there is great potential for developing community tourism.
“We will continue to organize the annual Harvest Festival with the aim of creating unique local tourism products, connecting the community tourism model in Cay Gao hamlet, creating a destination with a strong rural identity, attracting tourists,” said Mr. Vu.
During his lifetime, every time he returned to his hometown, Uncle Dong always took time to visit his relatives and neighbors. His wish was to build a prosperous homeland and a prosperous life for the people.
Uncle Ho's advice over the years has been materialized through the actions of the government and people in the district. Duc Tan commune is now a model new rural commune. And Cay Gao hamlet is being built to become a place for community sightseeing and tourism.
According to the Project of Mo Duc district, developing community tourism is based on preserving intact cultural values and living spaces in the village of Cay Gao hamlet.
In which, the Prime Minister Pham Van Dong Memorial Area is the core. From the memorial area, the surrounding areas will be developed so that visitors can experience the peaceful space of Cay Gao hamlet with agricultural and river tourism products.
“Through tourism development, agricultural products will bring double economic efficiency. That is, both making tourism products and selling them to tourists, thereby increasing income for our people” - Mr. Pham Van Thanh (Duc Tan commune) shared.
The attraction of vegetable growing areas
With an area of over 12 hectares, An Mo village (Duc Loi commune) is known as a clean vegetable production area, without using toxic chemicals. The lush green vegetable fields and the simple life and work of the people here create a rustic and attractive rural picture.
Taking advantage of this, An Mo people are implementing a community tourism model. The awareness of each family in the village in developing their family economy is also gradually changing in a positive direction.
“During the production process, households adhere to five principles: no chemical fertilizers, no toxic pesticides, no genetically modified substances, no growth stimulants and no herbicides. Thanks to that, the products are environmentally friendly, ensure the health of consumers and reduce production costs,” said Mr. Huynh Tien Dung.
According to Mai Tan, Head of the Supervisory Board of Duc Loi Agricultural Cooperative, along with many other places in the locality, An Mo village has established a "Green Sunday" group.
"Joining this group, people work together to clean the environment, take care of trees and vegetable gardens, creating an increasingly clean and beautiful rural appearance, attracting tourists," said Mr. Tan.
Mo Duc district sets the goal of developing tourism into an important economic sector, promoting the development of other economic sectors in the district to improve people's lives.
The District People's Committee has also issued a Project on developing district tourism for the period 2022 - 2025, with a vision to 2030, striving to welcome about 198,000 visitors in 2025 and about 385,000 visitors in 2030. Total revenue from tourism activities by 2025 is estimated to reach over 109 billion VND and by 2030 is estimated to reach over 290 billion VND.
According to Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province Nguyen Tien Dung, all localities in the province are actively implementing the Project on Tourism Development to 2025, with a vision to 2030; developing tourism in conjunction with the National Target Program on New Rural Development.
In particular, community tourism and agricultural tourism associated with promoting the value of craft villages continue to receive attention for development. If the effectiveness of traditional craft villages is promoted in association with tourism, it will bring great economic benefits, create jobs and increase income for people. At the same time, it directly contributes to preserving and conserving traditional cultural values.
“Mo Duc district has built a number of agricultural and rural tourism models, typically “green” tourism such as in An Mo area. This is an environmentally friendly direction and brings sustainable benefits,” said Mr. Dung.
