TPO - Forecasts indicate that the period from November 4th to 6th will be the peak of heavy rainfall in the central provinces, with three-day rainfall ranging from 220mm to 400mm, and in some areas exceeding 700mm. There is a particularly high risk of flash floods, landslides, and widespread flooding.

Last night and early this morning (November 4th), the area from Quang Tri to Thua Thien Hue experienced moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, while other areas in the North and Central Central regions, the Southern Central Highlands, and the Southern region experienced localized heavy to very heavy rain.

Starting today, a strong cold air mass from the North begins to move into our country, combined with an upper-level easterly wind disturbance and the windward topography of the Truong Son mountain range, causing the Central region to experience peak heavy rainfall over three days (November 4-6).

Central Vietnam experiences peak heavy rainfall.

Heavy rain continues in central provinces today (November 4th).

Forecasts indicate that from early morning on November 4th to early morning on November 6th, the area from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai will experience heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall amounts ranging from 150-250 mm, and in some places exceeding 400 mm. There is a very high risk of localized heavy rainfall exceeding 150 mm in 6 hours.

Throughout the day and night of November 6th, the area from Quang Binh to Binh Dinh continued to experience heavy rain, with localized very heavy rain and thunderstorms. Rainfall amounts were generally 70-150 mm, with some areas exceeding 250 mm. Specifically, the area from Quang Binh to Da Nang received 100-200 mm of rain, with some areas exceeding 300 mm.

Additionally, from the morning of November 4th to the morning of November 5th, the Thanh Hoa - Nghe An area experienced moderate to heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms, with localized very heavy rainfall ranging from 50 - 100 mm, and in some places exceeding 150 mm.

The thunderstorms were concentrated in the afternoon and evening.

The meteorological agency warns that heavy rain in the central provinces is likely to continue for several more days. Thunderstorms may bring tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind.

Due to the impact of prolonged heavy rainfall, there is a very high risk of flooding in low-lying areas, flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on slopes in the provinces from Ha Tinh to Binh Dinh.
