After that, the National Assembly discussed in groups the proposal to approve the dismissal of the positions of Minister of Construction and Minister of Science and Technology for the 2021-2026 term.
The approval process for dismissal from the position of minister and the position of Chairman of the Social Committee and member of the National Assembly Standing Committee is carried out by secret ballot.
Regarding the resolution approving the Prime Minister's proposal to dismiss the positions of Minister of Construction and Minister of Science and Technology for the 2021-2026 term: 429 delegates participated in the vote (89.75%), 428 delegates approved (89.54%), 1 delegate did not approve (0.21%).
Thus, with the majority of votes in favor, the National Assembly passed a resolution approving the dismissal of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi from the position of Minister of Construction and Mr. Huynh Thanh Dat from the position of Minister of Science and Technology to take on other jobs.
According to the resolution of the National Assembly, the Ministry of Construction was merged with the Ministry of Transport to form the Ministry of Construction. The Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Information and Communications were merged and named the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Also this morning, according to the resolution on dismissal of the position of member of the Standing Committee of the 15th National Assembly, 458 delegates participated in the vote (equal to 95.82%); 458 delegates approved (equal to 95.82%), the National Assembly also passed a resolution on dismissal of the position of member of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly and Chairwoman of the 15th Social Committee with Ms. Nguyen Thuy Anh.
The National Assembly resolution passed this morning also agreed to merge the Social Committee with the Culture and Education Committee into the Culture and Social Committee.
Previously, on the morning of February 17, the Politburo announced the decision to transfer, assign, and appoint Party Central Committee member and Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat to hold the position of Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission.
At the end of January 2025, the Politburo decided to transfer, assign and appoint Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and hold the position of Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2020 - 2025.
