Northern Vietnam experiences rising temperatures - VnExpress

VnExpressVnExpress03/03/2024

Over the next three days, the highest temperatures in the North will increase by nearly 15 degrees Celsius compared to today, reaching 33 degrees in Hanoi , before dropping again due to the strengthening of the cold air mass.

Northern Vietnam experienced nine days of intense cold, starting on February 24th. This is the longest period of severe cold at the end of February and beginning of March in about 20 years.

The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting announced that the cold air mass will weaken from today, bringing sunshine to the North. Over the next two days, the area will be affected by a low-pressure system from the west, causing temperatures to continue rising. Lai Chau , Hoa Binh, and Son La provinces will experience hot weather, with daily highs reaching 35 degrees Celsius.

The US Accuweather website forecasts Hanoi's temperature to reach 20-28 degrees Celsius tomorrow, with a high of 33 degrees Celsius by Tuesday. High-altitude areas above 1,500 meters above sea level, such as Sa Pa ( Lao Cai ), will experience continuously rising temperatures from now until the middle of next week, with a high of 26 degrees and a low of 12 degrees Celsius.

Central Vietnam will maintain dry and sunny conditions for the next two days. On March 5th, temperatures of 35-37 degrees Celsius will occur in the western mountainous areas of provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue. Temperatures in other areas will generally be between 31-33 degrees Celsius.

Southern Vietnam and the Central Highlands will continue to be affected by a stable air mass next week, with no rain at night. The Central Highlands will experience light fog in the early morning, with a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius. Southern Vietnam will have temperatures of 33-36 degrees Celsius, while many areas in the Southeast will experience hot weather with temperatures of 36-37 degrees Celsius.

Weather expert Nguyen Ngoc Huy believes that the North is currently experiencing days of constantly changing hot and cold weather. After about three days of hot weather, a cold front will arrive, causing temperatures to drop.

"Due to sudden changes in temperature, people should take precautions to protect their health, especially the elderly, young children, and those with respiratory illnesses," Mr. Huy advised.
