According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the heatwave is weakening in both the North and Central regions, replaced by cooling thunderstorms.
Today (June 5th), the Northern region will experience moderate rain and thunderstorms, with localized heavy to very heavy rain, with rainfall amounts of 20-50mm, and in some places over 100mm.
For the Central region, rainfall in the area from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue ranges from 10-30mm, with some places exceeding 50mm; from Da Nang to Binh Thuan , it is 20-40mm, with some places exceeding 60mm.
The Central Highlands and Southern regions also experienced scattered showers and thunderstorms, with localized moderate to heavy rainfall of 20-40mm, and in some places over 60mm.
In Hanoi specifically, there will be showers and thunderstorms today, with localized moderate to heavy rain.
Rain in these areas is mainly concentrated in the late afternoon and night. Thunderstorms may bring tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. Moderate to heavy rain in some areas can easily cause flooding in low-lying regions.
According to the meteorological agency, thunderstorms in the Northern, Central Highlands, and Southern regions of Vietnam are likely to continue for several more days.
