Strong sunshine and heat in the North, continuous rain in the South

On August 31, Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, gave his comments on weather developments during the 4-day National Day holiday on September 2 (from August 31 to September 3).

Accordingly, during this period, the weather in provinces and cities across the country has many impacts.

Specifically, in the northern provinces, on August 31, there will be showers and thunderstorms, after which the thunderstorms will gradually decrease. From September 1-3, the weather in the North will have little rain, sunny weather, but there will be hot and humid conditions in the afternoon.

In the Central region, the weather is different between the North and South of Hai Van Pass. North of the pass, from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue, the weather is mostly clear, with thunderstorms in some places in the afternoon and evening, and during the day there is also hot and humid conditions.

Meanwhile, in the area south of the pass, from Da Nang to Binh Thuan, the weather is clear from morning to afternoon, but there are showers and thunderstorms from afternoon to evening.

Particularly in the Central Highlands and the South, Mr. Huong said that during the 4-day holiday, there will be thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening with moderate intensity, with some places having heavy rain and thunderstorms. The temperature in the Central Highlands is from 28-31 degrees; in the South, it is from 30-33 degrees.

Mr. Huong warned that bad weather patterns are concentrated in the Central Highlands, the South and the South Central regions. Specifically, the Central Highlands and the South Central regions need to pay attention to flash floods and landslides; the South region needs to be vigilant about urban flooding.

Next, the Head of the Weather Forecasting Department also said that after the holiday is the opening of school, from September 4-5, the weather has not changed much.

Accordingly, the Northern region is still dry and hot in the afternoon and evening. In the Central Highlands and the South, thunderstorms tend to increase, expanding to the Central Central region, that is, from Quang Binh to Binh Thuan there will be thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. The Central Highlands and the South maintain showers and thunderstorms in many places in the afternoon and evening.

Forecast of the meteorological situation nationwide for the next 7 days (from August 31 to September 6) :

Northern Region

From August 31 to September 2: intermittent sunshine during the day, scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening and at night.

From September 3-6: sunny days, showers and thunderstorms in some places in the late afternoon and night.

Central Region

North Central : from August 31 to September 6, sunny days, showers and thunderstorms in some places in the late afternoon and night.

Central Central region : August 31, hot and sunny; later there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms; from the evening of September 2, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms.

South Central Coast : from August 31 to September 6, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms during the day, scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening and at night, with heavy rain in some places.

Central Highlands and Southern Region

From August 31 to September 6: showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and at night. From the night of August 31 to September 2, the Central Highlands will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing very heavy rain. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Hanoi area

From August 31 to September 2: intermittent sunshine during the day, scattered showers and thunderstorms in the evening and at night.

From September 3-6: sunny days, showers and thunderstorms in some places in the late afternoon and night.

In addition, according to oceanographic assessment, during this period, the wave height from the Gulf of Tonkin to Quang Ngai is generally below 2m. The sea area from Ninh Thuan to Ca Mau, the middle and southern East Sea (including Truong Sa archipelago) has a wave height of 2-4m, rough sea; the sea area from Ca Mau - Kien Giang and the Gulf of Thailand has a tendency to increase gradually from September 3, the wave height ranges from 1-2.5m, the sea is slightly rough.

According to experts, this period is less likely to see tropical cyclones.
