According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this evening and tonight (May 28), in the mountainous and midland areas of the North and the Central Highlands, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall of 10-30mm, in some places over 70mm.
This afternoon and tonight, the Southern region will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall of 20-40mm, in some places over 100mm.
Thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain may cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas. Beware of heavy rain in a short period of time causing flooding in urban areas.
According to the Meteorological Agency, from now until May 30, the North will continue to have rain, locally heavy rain in mountainous and midland areas, concentrated in the late afternoon and night; during the day there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, some places will be hot and sunny.
Notably, from the evening of May 30, this area will have rain, moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms in some places; from the night of May 30 to May 31, there will be rain, moderate rain and thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain.
For the Central region, from now until May 30, the days will be hot and sunny, with some places experiencing severe heat; showers and thunderstorms in the evening and at night in some places. From June 2-4, the entire region will experience heat and severe heat.
In addition, the North Central region from the night of May 30 to June 1 and the night of June 4 to 7 will have showers and thunderstorms, with some heavy rain. The Central Central region on the evening of May 31 will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some heavy rain.
Meanwhile, the Southern Hydrometeorological Station said that the southwest monsoon is gradually becoming stronger, so the Central Highlands and the South will experience continuous rain. Specifically, from May 28 to June 7, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, with some heavy rain; during the day there will be showers and thunderstorms in some places.
Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy (Huy Nguyen), an expert on climate change and natural disaster warning, has just made an assessment of the heavy rains from the night of May 29, May 30 to June 1 in many regions across the country.
Specifically, from the night of May 29, heavy rain began to occur in the northern mountainous provinces. On May 30, thunderstorms occurred in the northern mountainous provinces to Nghe An; in the western provinces from Thua Thien Hue to Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Long An, Tien Giang and the Long Xuyen Quadrangle of the Mekong Delta; and in the Southeast region.
At the same time, Dr. Huy also forecasted that from May 31 to June 1, rain will occur in provinces from Quang Binh to the Central Highlands and South Central regions. Rain will mainly occur in the afternoons due to thunderstorms developing from the West to the East.
Regarding the heat wave currently occurring in the Central region, the meteorological agency said that on May 29-30, the heat wave, some places will continue to be extremely hot with the highest temperature of 35-37 degrees, some places will be over 38 degrees; the lowest relative humidity is commonly 50-55%. From May 31, the heat wave in the Central region is likely to gradually ease.
Regarding Hanoi's weather , the Hydrometeorological Station of the Northern Delta and Midlands forecasts that due to the influence of the low pressure area in the West being compressed combined with the divergence field above, tomorrow (May 29), there will still be hot and sunny places with the highest temperature of 35-36 degrees, with the possibility of showers and thunderstorms in some places in the evening and at night.
This heat wave will last until May 30. On the night of May 30 and the morning of May 31, Hanoi will have moderate to heavy rain; the temperature will gradually decrease, the highest will be 31-33 degrees, the weather will be cool. However, because the rain appears after a hot day, it is necessary to be on guard against the risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
The North is in a long period of thunderstorms, the Central region is experiencing widespread heat.
