Many residential areas and roads near Cat Bi International Airport (Hai An District, Hai Phong City) experienced power outages on the evening of June 8th.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from yesterday afternoon, June 8th, to early this morning, June 9th, moderate to heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain, fell in the Northern region and Thanh Hoa province .

Specifically, the rainfall measured from 1 PM on June 8th to 3 AM on June 9th ranged from 30 to 80 mm, with some areas exceeding 100 mm, such as: Minh Quang (Vinh Phuc) 195.3 mm, Dong Xuan (Phu Tho) 108.8 mm, Dong Bac (Hoa Binh) 130.4 mm, Suoi Giang (Yen Bai) 114.8 mm, Muong Sai (Son La) 121.0 mm, Thiet Ke (Thanh Hoa) 112.2 mm…

Eleven hydroelectric reservoirs have run out of water and have had to stop generating electricity.

For people in the North who have endured the harsh heat for many days, these rains are like "golden rain," bringing relief from the heat, especially since many residential areas are still experiencing power outages and rolling blackouts.

Regarding the power outage schedule for June 9th in Thai Nguyen, Thai Nguyen Power Company has updated the list of 14 areas experiencing power cuts due to repairs, renovations, and maintenance of the power grid. Over the past few days, extreme hot weather and increased electricity demand have caused localized overloads and threatened power outages in some areas. To prevent power system failures, the power company will be carrying out repairs to the power grid.

In particular, many areas experienced prolonged power outages, ranging from 2 PM to 8 PM and from 3 PM to 10 PM. However, Thai Nguyen Power Company stated that they will promptly rectify the situation and restore power as soon as possible, and requested the understanding of residents and electricity customers.

The power outage schedule in Hanoi on June 9th also shows that many residential areas will continue to experience power outages.

In Ha Dong District, the LK27,28 resettlement area; part of the Nam Cuong urban area, and areas L and M in Duong Noi Ward experienced power outages from 7 AM to 3 PM. Additionally, alleys No. 2, 4, and 18 on Thanh Binh Street; and parts of residential groups 7 and 8 in Phu Lam Ward were without electricity from 7 AM to 1 PM.

In Son Tay town, eight areas experienced rotating power outages at different times, concentrated in Vien Son and Ngo Quyen wards; notably, a part of Hospital 105 also had its power cut off.

In Hai Phong on the evening of June 8th, many areas around Cat Bi International Airport (Hai An District) experienced power outages, affecting both residential areas and traffic lighting systems. According to the Hai Phong Power Company, 16 areas will be without electricity today in the districts of Thuy Nguyen, An Lao, Vinh Bao, Tien Lang, and the districts of Hai An, Hong Bang, and Do Son…

Electricity supply to northern provinces is expected to remain difficult in the coming days. By June 8th, many hydropower plants nationwide had to cease operation due to water levels in reservoirs reaching or approaching dead water levels, making safe operation impossible. Among these are several hydropower reservoirs that supply the majority of electricity to the North.

Of the major hydropower plants in the North, only the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant still has water in its reservoir to operate and generate electricity. However, if there is no heavy rain in the coming days to replenish the water supply, the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant will only be able to generate electricity until June 12-13.
