However, with the development of technology, a new generation of robots with compact size and higher flexibility are gradually replacing humans in more detailed stages, especially quality control and output management.
Luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz is one of the pioneers in this trend. Currently, the company has put into use Apollo robots manufactured by Apptronik (USA) at its factory in Berlin – Marienfelde, Germany.

Apollo robots working for Mercedes-Benz in the automotive manufacturing process are currently taking on internal logistics tasks, such as transporting components to the assembly line and performing initial quality checks. In particular, they are capable of automatically moving to a charging station when the battery is low without human intervention.
Although they cannot completely replace human workers, with the improvement of programming systems, robots like Apollo promise to take on more roles in the near future.

In addition to promoting automation, Mercedes-Benz is also implementing a strategy to streamline human resources with the goal of saving 5.4 billion USD by 2027.
Accordingly, the German car company has launched an attractive compensation package to encourage employees to voluntarily leave. Specifically, long-term employees can receive support of up to 540,000 USD (about 13.8 billion VND), depending on their seniority, current salary and level of contribution to the company.
It is expected that about 30,000 employees who are not directly involved in production will be eligible for early retirement under this policy. However, the German carmaker affirmed that it will not force anyone to quit if they do not want to or feel that the compensation is not reasonable.

Mercedes-Benz's push to automate and cut staff is not just a short-term measure, but also a strategic move to optimize costs and improve production efficiency.
This is considered a major investment to help the German luxury car company maintain its position in the market, while adapting to the strong transformation of the auto industry in the technology era.
