Two opposing mothers
Choosing the familiar family theme, My Family Is Happy Suddenly has a new way of telling stories through a youthful script. In many Vietnamese TV dramas, the role of the domineering, evil mother-in-law causes a lot of frustration for the audience.
People's Artist Lan Huong "Bong" has been called a cruel mother-in-law many times on screen. However, in My Family is Suddenly Happy, even though she has three daughters-in-law, the character of Mrs. Cuc is no longer formidable, even too gentle and considerate.
Mrs. Cuc is the ideal mother-in-law that many daughters-in-law wish for.
Mrs. Cuc does most of the housework and also pays attention to the interests and personalities of each daughter-in-law. Seeing Phuong (Meritorious Artist Kieu Anh) working hard, Mrs. Cuc also suggested that her eldest daughter-in-law go out to relax and take care of her beauty.
In many movies, the mother-in-law is often the "villain" character, dividing her son and daughter-in-law. Mrs. Cuc in My Family is suddenly happy, on the contrary, ready to go with her children to cheer on football matches and organize jubilant parties.
When Tram Anh (Kha Ngan) first became a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Cuc expressed her joy: "The brothers and sisters in the family have one more younger sibling to love. Before being a mother-in-law, I was also a daughter-in-law. I hope that my children will consider me as a support, a place where they can trust and share difficulties in life." The love, protection and care of the mother-in-law often moved the daughters-in-law.
People's Artist Lan Huong continues to have the fate of being a mother-in-law on the small screen.
On the contrary, Mrs. Ngoc (Phuong Hanh) - Danh's (Thanh Son) mother-in-law is not gentle and simple like her in-laws. Mrs. Ngoc spoils her daughter openly, ready to argue with Mrs. Cuc's family so that her daughter can have a comfortable life, even though that is not Tram Anh's wish.
Ms. Ngoc is a strong, wealthy single mother with modern thinking. Therefore, she often shows her dominance over others, even her in-laws.
Terrible mother-in-law receives criticism
The argument broke out in episode 20 when Danh and Tram Anh decided not to move to Ms. Ngoc's house as planned. Ms. Cuc (NSND Lan Huong) agreed to let her youngest son and his wife stay, but felt awkward with Tram Anh's mother. Ms. Cuc was worried that Ms. Ngoc would misunderstand that her husband's family was urging her daughter-in-law to stay.
In front of her son-in-law, Mrs. Ngoc said that her daughter was being influenced and made difficult, but "there is no way she would choose to live with her husband's family". Tram Anh's mother was upset because her daughter had to do housework, even though it was a normal job for a daughter-in-law when she moved to her husband's house. In reality, Tram Anh was pampered at her husband's house and hardly had to do any housework.
Mrs. Ngoc is formidable and somewhat condescending.
"This girl is foolish, she put herself in the shackles and thought she was so cool. Her hands are dry from touching water so much. She has only been married for a short time and she has to suffer like this," said Mrs. Ngoc.
Mrs. Ngoc argued with her in-laws, saying that because of Mr. Toai's (People's Artist Bui Bai Binh) prejudice, both Danh and Tram Anh had to suffer. She blamed her in-laws for not advising their children so they could make rash decisions. During the conversation, Mrs. Ngoc always affirmed that if they lived with her, their children would be happy and fulfilled, while Tram Anh would have to suffer at her husband's house.
Mrs. Ngoc spoils her children in the wrong way.
Previously, Mrs. Ngoc promised her in-laws that she would give Danh and Tram Anh a luxury apartment to avoid the complications of living with her mother-in-law and sisters-in-law. However, because her business was not going as expected, Mrs. Ngoc "delayed" the wedding gift.
Many viewers commented that the character of Mrs. Ngoc spoils her child too much and looks down on others. "Mrs. Ngoc loves her child but teaches her many wrong things. The idea that a child does not even have to touch a piece of vegetable is very wrong," viewers commented. The arrogant attitude and lack of respect for the in-laws caused the mother-in-law character to receive criticism.
