These days, the Muong people are waiting for the winter solstice to pass before planting their new crop. Under their stilt houses, they prepare tools and materials for weaving and bending rattan to make various household items. From the flexible rattan fibers, through the skillful hands of Muong women, beautiful trays and vases are created.

Meticulously crafted, each bamboo strip is carefully chosen.

Men also take the opportunity to ferment rice wine in large jars in preparation for the upcoming Lunar New Year. The first harvest of glutinous rice is always fragrant and produces a strong, flavorful rice wine.

The women weave baskets, while the men brew rice wine from newly harvested glutinous rice.

The Muong people never forget to pass on their culture to the younger generation. Young men and women diligently brew rice wine and weave rattan under the roofs of their stilt houses.

The jar of rice wine will be offered to guests during major village festivals.
