Kiev announced on October 15 that Ukrainian forces destroyed a military transport plane at an airport deep inside Russian territory over the weekend, defense sources said.
Accordingly, the Ukrainian Military Intelligence Agency said that its forces destroyed a Russian Tu-134 transport aircraft at a military airport in the Orenburg region, about 1,000 km from the border with Ukraine, in the early morning of October 13.

"A Tu-134 belonging to the 117th Military Transport Aviation Regiment of Russia caught fire in the early morning of October 13. Such aircraft, built during the Soviet era, are mainly used to transport the leadership of the Russian Ministry of Defense," the agency said on social media.
Ukraine’s military intelligence agency also released video of what Ukraine said was an arson attack, showing flames burning inside a plane. However, Kiev did not provide details on how the attack was carried out.
This is the latest Ukrainian claim of an attack behind Russian lines, according to sources.
Ukraine has stepped up attacks inside Russian territory in recent months, targeting military sites and energy facilities, in an attempt to sabotage Russian military logistics.
Russia has not yet commented on Ukraine's statement.
