Yak-130 military aircraft crashed in Binh Dinh, 2 pilots parachuted to safety

(Dan Tri) - During a training flight, the Yak-130 aircraft encountered an accident, so the two pilots decided to take the aircraft out of the residential area and parachute to escape.

On November 6, speaking with Dan Tri reporters, leaders of Binh Dinh province confirmed that a Yak-130 training aircraft had an accident and crashed in the province. The location of the crash and the pilot's parachute have not yet been determined.

The crashed plane belonged to Air Regiment 940, Air Force Officer School, stationed in Binh Dinh.

"We have mobilized police, military, forest rangers, militia and people to carry out the search," said the leader of Binh Dinh province.

According to initial information from Binh Dinh province authorities, the plane crash occurred at 11:00 a.m. on November 6 in Tay Son district.

The report of the Binh Dinh Provincial Military Command shows that the crashed plane was a Yak-130, serial number 2101.

The flight crew included Colonel Nguyen Van Son - Commander of Air Force Regiment 940 and Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan - Flight Commander of Air Force Regiment 940.

According to initial developments, at around 10am the same day, the pilot parachuted out of the plane in Tay Xuan commune, Tay Son district. The pilot has not yet been found and the location of the plane crash has not been determined.

The Military Command of Binh Dinh province is reporting the incident to the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province for direction; informing the incident to local agencies and units to coordinate search, rescue and relief efforts.

The Binh Dinh Provincial Military Command has established a temporary command post, deployed a standing force of 82 officers and 60 militiamen to coordinate with relevant units to search and rescue.

The Yak-130 is a ground attack and training aircraft jointly designed and manufactured by Russia's OKB Yakovlev and Italy's Aermacchi. It is one of the most advanced light combat and training aircraft available today.
