DNVN - Speaking at the conference "Moscow - Hanoi: Potential for cooperation in the fields of health and pharmaceuticals", on October 21, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hung - Deputy Director in charge of the Hanoi Department of Health said that the cooperation relationship between Moscow - Hanoi in the fields of health and pharmaceuticals still has a lot of room for development.
According to Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hung - Deputy Director in charge of Hanoi Department of Health, since the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation has developed strongly in all fields. In recent times, health cooperation between the two countries has achieved many important achievements, contributing significantly to the cause of caring for and protecting people's health.
Cooperation focuses on the areas of improving the capacity of high-quality medical human resources, disease prevention, maternal and child health protection, and basic medical research.
At the local level, the cooperative relationship between the Hanoi People's Committee and the Moscow City Government was established in 1997. Since then, the traditional friendship and good cooperation between the two localities have been continuously strengthened and developed.
In 2019, the two governments signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Hanoi and Moscow to identify and implement programs, projects, and cooperation activities, including healthcare and high-tech medical examination and treatment. However, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two localities have not had many opportunities to implement specific cooperation activities in the healthcare sector.
The long-standing friendship and traditional ties between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in general and the two capitals of Hanoi and Moscow in particular are the pride of the people of the two countries and still have a lot of room for development.
“I hope that along with the recent high-level and all-level delegation exchanges, towards the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025 (1950 - 2025), the health agencies, medical and pharmaceutical enterprises of the two capitals of Hanoi and Moscow will actively research and implement specific cooperation programs and activities, bringing about practical and effective results,” Mr. Hung emphasized.
Mr. Hung expressed his hope that the two sides will implement specific cooperation programs such as training high-quality medical human resources; transferring modern and advanced medical technology from Russia; cooperating in scientific research; and organizing international scientific conferences and seminars on medicine and pharmaceuticals.
Along with that is digitalization in the medical field, application of artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine; production of pharmaceuticals, vaccines; sharing experiences in hospital management, improving the quality of medical services and patient safety...
Speaking at the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong Lien - Vice President of Sao Thai Duong Joint Stock Company, Vice President of Vietnam Science and Technology Enterprises Association emphasized the innovation in Vietnamese traditional medicine. Vietnamese traditional medicine has participated in preventing and treating most common diseases safely and effectively, widely applied in primary health care; recovery and improvement, resistance.
“In particular, during the recent global COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnamese traditional medicine successfully researched herbal medicines to treat COVID-19. In the future, we plan to research combining herbal medicine and biotechnology in disease treatment and prevention with the aim of increasing effectiveness and reducing side effects,” said Ms. Lien.
According to Ms. Lien, the Russian Federation has many medicines and technologies to help with rehabilitation from pharmaceutical and medical equipment corporations.
“We believe that today's conference will create opportunities for Russian and Vietnamese investors to cooperate in developing the healthcare sector to serve medical examination and treatment, improving the health of the people of the two countries,” Ms. Lien expressed.
