The film "Village in the City" opens with a scene depicting the disruption of life in Tan Xuan commune due to a new way of life. Previously, Men (Doan Quoc Dam) and Hieu (Duy Hung) had their lives transformed by winning the bid for the cooperative's fish pond, but now they have lost their livelihood because the pond's surface is being reclaimed for a construction project.
Not wanting this to happen, Men and Hieu tried to bribe the project supervisor but were unsuccessful.
