At the same time, it demonstrates the responsibility, affection, solidarity between the army and the people and the concern of local Party committees and authorities; mass organizations and press agencies for cadres, soldiers and people on the outpost islands of the Fatherland.

Speaking before the trip, Rear Admiral Nguyen Huu Thoan, Political Commissar of Naval Region 5 believes that this is a special concern, a deep sentiment of the Party Committee, government, departments, organizations and people of localities, businesses, and press agencies towards the sea and islands in the days before the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024.

At the same time, with their emotions, intelligence, talent and responsibility, they actively propagate about the sea and islands, about the activities of protecting the sovereignty of the armed forces in the southwestern sea and islands of the Fatherland to cadres, party members and the masses, as well as promote propaganda on mass media, contributing to raising awareness of all classes of people about the sea and islands, making the movement "For the homeland's sea and islands - For the frontline of the Fatherland" continue to spread widely and achieve practical results.

On this trip, the delegation will bring hundreds of Tet gifts from the Ministry of National Defense, the Navy, the Command of Region 5 and localities, civil and party agencies, and businesses to give to officers and soldiers on duty on the southwestern continental shelf of the Fatherland.

Naval Region 5 is assigned to manage and protect the sovereignty of the Southwestern sea and islands, with an area of over 150,000 km2, a coastline of over 450 km (from the mouth of the Ganh Hao River in Bac Lieu province to Ha Tien city in Kien Giang province), with more than 140 large and small islands. Including 5 large archipelagos; An Thoi, Tho Chu, Nam Du, Ba Lua and the Pirate archipelago. This is a sea area with an important strategic position in terms of economy - politics, national defense - security, assigned to the Naval Region 5 Command as the core force to manage and protect.

To firmly protect the sea and islands of the Southwest of the Fatherland, on October 26, 1975, the Ministry of National Defense issued a decision to establish 5 Coastal Regions (including Naval Region 5).

After completing the international mission, the Naval Region 5 Command urgently completed its organization, consolidated all aspects, united with the army and people in the area, overcame difficulties, built an all-people national defense, and made the people's war at sea increasingly stronger.

For nearly half a century of building, fighting, growing and developing, the Naval Region 5 Command has always received the love, protection, shelter and wholehearted help of Party committees, authorities, departments, organizations and people nationwide.

Since its establishment, the officers and soldiers of the Naval Region 5 Command have always deeply understood the sacred value of every inch of island and sea of the Fatherland as an inseparable, indivisible part of the sacred territory, which is the blood, will and aspirations of our ancestors for thousands of years; has been and is imbued with the sweat and efforts of generations of Vietnamese people; contains the great sentiments and sacrifices of the army and people of the whole country; respects and honors the great contributions of previous generations; no matter how difficult or arduous, always upholds the spirit of vigilance, is ready to fight, and accepts sacrifices for the cause of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands in the Southwest of the Fatherland.
