From March 27 to April 22, the topic of the parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South received more than 2.45 million discussions and 18.13 million interactions on social media platforms, according to Y ounet Media.
The index has doubled in the past week, as people directly participated in activities within the framework of the event. This number is many times higher than other peak events such as SEA Games 31 (600,000 visits).
The April 30th parade appeared simultaneously, showing the connection of this theme. From the older generation, to many young people expressing pride in many different ways, bringing diverse perspectives on the celebration.
Storming all platforms at the same time
Data from SocialTrend shows that Facebook has received the most discussion (55.6%). To date, there are five groups on the platform that have been established to share relevant information, make reservations, and provide detailed instructions on the parade schedule, with a total of more than 12,000 members.
The most popular topics of discussion included the venue (25%), the event schedule (21%), and how to watch the parade (21%). Users were constantly asking about the best viewing spots, restricted routes, and the most convenient way to watch the parade.

According to TikTok data, 9 out of 10 hashtags in the 7-day ranking are related to the April 30th holiday with a total of 153,000 posts. In particular, #dieu binh and #50namgiaiphongmiennam have climbed to the top two positions in the 30-day ranking. This platform has more than 60% of Gen Z users.
Interest began to increase sharply when images of the first rehearsal with ceremonial formations and vehicles such as helicopters and fighter jets flying in the sky were widely shared.

The interest level for the keywords “50th anniversary” and “April 30th parade” are considered breakthrough categories on Google. The number of searches has increased 2-3 times in the past week. Related keywords include the song “Anniversary” by musician Pham Hoai Nam, the logo for the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South, and some other information.
The search volume spans from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Binh Duong, to other provinces. Notably, 58% of the discussion content calls for participation and more than 50% express excitement and national pride.
Intergenerational cultural intersection
Cyberspace is also a place where generations express their national pride in many different ways. Young users have expressed their love for their country's history with familiar names.
Inspired by idol culture and recent popular music events in Vietnam, Gen Z called the April 30 parade the “concert of the Fatherland”.
Hanh Nguyen (Ha Long) shared that many young people who came to watch the rehearsal called the display models “booth concerts” and the candies given out by soldiers were “freebies”. This shows that the April 30 parade has become a vibrant part of popular culture.

For older generations, social media was a tool for sharing historical knowledge and unforgettable memories. The large number of posts created an oral history, turning the online space into a place to preserve meaningful stories.
Many websites also exploit the veteran’s story and receive many shares from the community. An Khanh (Hanoi) commented that looking at the images of the old men and uncles makes him feel like “standing with them in the flow of history”.
