Man City are looking for a new full-back as part of their squad overhaul. |
Man City are expected to continue to strongly reform their squad at the end of the season, after spending 180 million pounds on four players in the January transfer window. Manager Pep Guardiola has prioritized strengthening the defense, especially at right-back and left-back.
The Telegraph revealed that Man City see Udogie as a name that can upgrade the team's left-back position. The 22-year-old player has had a dip in form this season, in the context of Tottenham's poor performance. However, the Italian defender is still highly appreciated by Guardiola.
Last season, Udogie was one of the Premier League's top left-backs, having joined Spurs from Udinese for £15m. Obviously, getting Udogie to leave Tottenham will not be an easy task for Man City.
Udogie is under contract with Spurs until June 2028 and sees the youngster as a key player in the future. Man City will have to spend a lot of money to make Tottenham let him go, with an expected fee of no less than 40-50 million pounds.
Pep and the Man City scouts have been keen on Italian full-backs recently. Before Udogie, Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso was also considered Man City's top target for the full-back position. Man City's new Director of Football, Hugo Viana, has also just started work at the Etihad and is preparing for a busy summer.
