Man City buys Josko Gvardiol to strengthen squad
90min reported that negotiations between Man City and agent Josko Gvardiol (Leipzig) are progressing well. Personal terms have now been agreed in principle so a deal could be done soon.
Manager Pep Guardiola has identified Josko Gvardiol as a top target to add to his Man City squad since April and the Champions League champions are pushing hard to complete the deal.
Man City are currently negotiating with Leipzig over the price, with the Bundesliga representative making a clear request: they want Josko Gvardiol to become the most expensive defender in the world, surpassing the 80 million pounds that MU spent to get Harry Maguire from Leicester in 2019.
90min said that Man City did not want to pay the £85.5 million (€100 million) price including add-ons that Leipzig demanded but they realized they might have to do it to complete the deal.
Josko Gvardiol is young (21 years old) but is highly rated, playing prominently for the Croatian team at the 2022 World Cup.

Ilkay Gundogan joins Barca on free transfer
Ilkay Gundogan left Man City to join Barca but could leave the Nou Camp just before the summer transfer window closes.
On the afternoon of June 26, Gundogan was officially confirmed as a Barca player with a two-year deal with an option for a further 12 months.
Barca inserted a contract termination clause of 400 million Euros, paying Gundogan a salary of 6 million Euros/year after tax.
However, according to Athletic , the agreement between the two sides includes a clause that will allow Gundogan to leave Barca for free at the end of the transfer window (September 1).
That is in case the Catalan team cannot successfully register Gundogan before the summer market closes. Not only that, Barca must pay the full 6 million Euro salary in the first year for the former Man City captain.
According to La Liga regulations, Barca must meet financial fair play requirements to be allowed to register a new team.
The source also said that if Man City had offered to extend for more than one year, Gundogan would have stayed.
Gudogan's side reportedly feel the Premier League champions are not doing enough to keep their captain.
Interestingly, Gundogan received a huge offer from Saudi Arabia, but he decided to join Barca on a free transfer.
Ilkay Gundogan has been a key part of Pep Guardiola's successful reign at Man City over the past seven years, winning five Premier League titles and last season's treble with the club's first ever Champions League trophy.
Coach Luis Enrique replaces Christopher Galier at PSG. |
PSG "overhauls" the squad
Le Perisien said that coach Luis Enrique will be announced to replace Christopher Galier as the new head coach of PSG on Wednesday (June 28).
The former Barca boss will sign a two-year contract with an option for a further 12 months. Once he officially takes charge at the Parc des Princes, the coach will have to quickly do one important thing: list unwanted players in an effort to overhaul the club's squad.
Previously, the appointment of coach Luis Enrique was expected to be officially confirmed this Wednesday because PSG still had to negotiate compensation for the contract with coach Galtier and his team when they lost their jobs after only one year compared to the two-year agreement.
According to the above source, this coach received 6 million Euros in compensation from PSG. He was announced to be fired right after the final match of last season, but PSG did not announce it to the public.
