Ly Son needs to focus on developing key economic sectors

Ly Son is the only island district located in the Northeast of Quang Ngai province, about 15 nautical miles from the mainland, with a natural area of ​​over 10.39km² (including Big Island and Small Island), and a population of over 24,000 people.

Ly Son people live mainly on fishing, agriculture, tourism services and some small handicrafts.

In particular, the district pays great attention to tourism, thereby mobilizing funds to invest in repairing and upgrading many traffic routes connecting to tourist destinations and historical and cultural relics. The work of propaganda, promotion and tourism promotion has been innovated in many forms.

The tourism sector in Ly Son is of special interest.

Thanks to that, tourism has recovered and improved. In 2022, the total number of visitors will reach 135,000, an increase of 95,606 compared to 2021; in 2024, the total number of visitors will reach 181,000, an increase of 10,000 compared to 2023.

In the period of 2020-2025, the average growth rate of Ly Son's production value is estimated at 5.4%/year, achieving the resolution target.

Economic sector structure in 2025: trade - services account for 44.2%; agriculture, forestry and fishery account for 42.78%; industry - construction account for 13.02%. Budget revenue in the area exceeds the target assigned by the province every year, the whole period of 2021-2025 is estimated at nearly 1,490 billion VND. Average income per capita by 2025 is estimated at 50.8 million VND/person/year, achieving the target set by the Resolution.

Working with the People's Committee of Ly Son district on the afternoon of March 26, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province Nguyen Hoang Giang emphasized that tourism is the spearhead of Ly Son, although it has developed, it is still weak and lacking, investment attraction is still limited, tourism products and services are still limited, and the attractiveness is not high.

Therefore, it is necessary to have a comprehensive and holistic mindset to invest in development; effectively exploit the strengths of local industries and typical products (onions, garlic, peanuts, etc.).

In addition, the district needs to strengthen solutions to collect state budget in the area, strive to increase revenue compared to the assigned estimate; focus on developing clean agricultural products, gradually turning agricultural products into products serving tourism; effectively implement the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program; deploy plans to respond to natural disasters and search and rescue in the area.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested that in the coming time, Ly Son district continue to implement the Strategy for sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

Promote the development of fisheries exploitation in the direction of increasing offshore exploitation, creating favorable conditions for the development of aquaculture. Implement solutions for synchronous, effective and comprehensive development in the cultural and social fields; effectively implement social security policies; effectively implement the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses by 2025.

Resolutely carry out administrative reform, breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation. Improve the investment and business environment. Strengthen the work of ensuring security, order and social safety in the district.
