Ly Hai Return to the Vietnamese film race on April 30 - May 1 with Lat mat 8: Sunshine bracelet. After the family-themed film, the director sent the audience a work that promotes national spirit, on the occasion of the whole country celebrating the 50th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
The male director just released a teaser Flip Side 8, reenactment of people running in firebomb in the coconut forest. This is the first time Ly Hai has filmed a national resistance war scene. The male director admits this is a big challenge. He sets himself strict requirements, recreating the authenticity of the film.
Scene on fire Explosion in the Coconut Forest tells the story of a family of three and villagers running from bombs and bullets. Ly Hai tried to recreate the brutality of war with broken coconut trees, damaged houses, and bombs continuously burning everything. The male director said the message of the film is that the smoke and fire of war makes life fragile, and people's dreams become small in the face of the times.
The process of choosing the filming location was difficult. The director wanted the scene to be authentic and connected to historical sites. The crew found some areas with coconut forests in the Central region, but it was not feasible because the locations were not allowed to film or were not historical.
The team found a suitable location in the commune. Thien Nghiep, Ham Tien Ward, Binh Thuan Province. This is the place that witnessed many battles between our ancestors and the invaders. The owner of the coconut forest also experienced and witnessed losses during the resistance war against America.
“There were battles and bombings here just like the scene in the movie. Flip 8: Sunny Bracelet. There are many coconut trees here with traces of bombs and bullets left behind,” the film producer shared.
In the big explosion scene filmed live, the crew did not use much CGI image simulation technology. The crew prepared carefully and invited fire experts to ensure the scene was safe.
The crew said they used five large cameras and two drones to film the explosion scene. The actors and crew members memorized the location and avoided going near the explosion site. Ly Hai felt pressured when performing the explosions in the coconut forest, showing the horror of war. The crew representative said one camera was burned during the explosion.
Ly Hai said he tried hard in Flip 8: Sunny Bracelet to pay tribute to the heroes who fought and sacrificed to gain independence and freedom for the Vietnamese people.
Flip Side 8 Returning to the Vietnamese film race during the holiday season with a series of Vietnamese films. Last year, Ly Hai's film shown on April 30 - May 1 earned 482.7 billion VND and was in the top 2 highest grossing films of all time.
