Pepper price today, September 18, 2024 in the domestic market decreased slightly in some key localities, trading from 152,000 - 155,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, pepper price today in Gia Lai is at 154,000 VND/kg.

Pepper prices today in the provinces of Dong Nai (154,000 VND/kg); Dak Lak (155,000 VND/kg); Dak Nong (155,000 VND/kg); Ba Ria - Vung Tau (155,000 VND/kg) and Binh Phuoc (152,000 VND/kg).

Thus, after 2 days of stability, domestic pepper prices today decreased slightly in Dak Nong and Dak Lak, while remaining stable in other key localities. The highest pepper price is at 155,000 VND/kg.

Vietnam's domestic pepper prices have been adjusted down due to slowing demand from markets such as the US, EU and Asia. Meanwhile, China continues to buy, but in small quantities.

Sharing at the recent Pepper Industry Summary Conference, Mr. Le Duc Huy - General Director of Dak Lak 2/9 Import-Export Company Limited - Simexco, said that Vietnam's inventory is about 30%, equivalent to 50,000 - 55,000 tons.

However, in the first half of this year, Vietnam's traditional purchasing markets imported large quantities of pepper. This means that they are not in a hurry to buy more goods and are waiting.

Therefore, he believes that although the supply shortage continues, pepper prices will hardly increase as sharply as at the beginning of the year.

“Pepper prices are likely to remain at this level in the near future. Farmers still expect prices to increase dramatically again, but in my opinion, this is very difficult,” said Mr. Huy.

In the world market, at the end of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at 7,562 USD/ton; the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 at 7,000 USD/ton, down 400 USD/ton, equivalent to 4.29%; the price of Kuching black pepper (Malaysia) ASTA at 8,800 USD/ton.

Muntok white pepper price is 9,121 USD/ton; Malaysian ASTA white pepper price is at 10,900 USD/ton.

Vietnam's black pepper price is trading at 6,800 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 7,100 USD/ton for 550 g/l; white pepper price is at 10,150 USD/ton. IPC sharply reduced Brazilian pepper prices at the beginning of the week while keeping them stable in other countries.

The International Pepper Community commented that the market in the second week of September showed a positive response when no producing country recorded a decrease.

In South Asia, after two weeks of stability, domestic and export pepper prices in India increased last week. Meanwhile, domestic pepper prices in Sri Lanka continued to increase over the past two weeks.

Indonesian black pepper prices continue to be stable. Meanwhile, white pepper prices recorded an increase last week.

After two weeks of decline, domestic pepper prices in Malaysia stabilized last week. Export prices continued to increase.

Vietnam's domestic and international pepper prices have also been recorded by IPC to increase over the past two weeks.

Prices of Brazilian black pepper and Chinese white pepper recorded an increase. Meanwhile, prices of Cambodian black pepper remained stable and unchanged.
