Going to find Minh Nhi in the director's office, I found the door locked, because after work he usually goes outside to sit, for a reason no one expected...
When artists save electricity
On the morning of May 30, along with actress Truong Ngoc Anh and poet Le Minh Quoc, comedian Minh Nhi attended the launching ceremony of the writing contest "Saving electricity becomes a habit" co-organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper and Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation (EVNHCMC), as an ambassador for the contest.
In the art world, comedian Minh Nhi is an approachable and emotional person. He is not particular about anything, as long as everyone is happy, he is happy, so when invited to participate in an exchange about saving electricity, he is ready immediately. Although he is famous and has an income, he, actress Truong Ngoc Anh, and poet Le Minh Quoc are also the "bosses and bosses" of saving electricity.
Sharing at the exchange, actress Truong Ngoc Anh said that 30 years ago, she moved from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City to start a career. At first, the actress was not used to the weather with two seasons, rainy and sunny, here, but then she gradually got used to it and considered this her second hometown.
This was also the time when she had to pay her first electricity bills in her life, because during the days she lived with her family in Hanoi, her parents took care of all those expenses. Regarding paying the electricity bill, actress Truong Ngoc Anh smiled and said: "I always receive the bill on time and try to pay on time so that my electricity is not cut off."
After many years of hard work and effort to achieve the success she has now, the actress has a spacious house in Ho Chi Minh City as well as opened a high-class restaurant. Although her conditions and income have changed, she said she is still aware of the issue of saving electricity in her family.
"Usually, women like Ngoc Anh tend to worry a lot. As the main financial person in the family, taking care of an elderly mother, younger siblings, and many children, I also have to know how to save money, in case I can't do it, I still have a "reserve" to manage. I think all women have that mentality," the actress said.
Minh Nhi humorously said that among his many tragicomic roles such as Kim the butler (in Funny House ), Mr. Councilor ( Oan Gia Ngang Trai ), the librarian ( Snow White's Diary ), Nam Lit ( Vo La Mua Xuan )..., surprisingly, he has not played any role in the difficult profession of electricity. However, he always respects his special profession of serving customers and is always conscious of saving electricity. "I buy the stage all the equipment that consumes the least amount of electricity," comedian Minh Nhi confided.
Agreeing with artist Minh Nhi about the need to increase electricity saving, poet Le Minh Quoc shared: "The mentality of people from the countryside who live alone with oil lamps all year round in Ho Chi Minh City like me likes to see light. In the old days, Saigon used to have a saying: 'Saigon lights have some green and some red lights/My Tho lights have some bright and some dim lights/I came back to learn the word 'gentle'/I waited for you for nine moons, I waited for you for ten autumns'. Or we can say that Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City is a city of lights. But now we have to save electricity, electricity for lighting is no longer something that is private to... waste on looking at, but we have to think about the community".
I am a good example, then I teach my students to listen.
Talking about the director's room at the new stage which is spacious and fully equipped (at 22 Vinh Vien, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City) but is rarely open because Minh Nhi often sits outside, the comedian revealed: "Minh Nhi has a very nice director's room, modern equipment, but if you come to the stage on hot days like recently, you will often see Minh Nhi sitting in the lobby drinking iced tea.
People often wonder. I answer: "Sitting outside allows me to see my students coming and going to guide them, but in fact, it's to... not turn on the air conditioner. I want to set an example for them about saving electricity. If I set an example, then my students will listen. Whoever turns on the fan without turning it off, I will immediately warn them through the camera, and they may even have their salary deducted," the male artist laughed.
Therefore, artist Minh Nhi really appreciates the speech at the launching ceremony of the writing contest "Saving electricity becomes a habit" by journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan - Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper: "Lu Xun once said: 'There is no road in this world, people will walk forever and it will become a road'. Therefore, let's join hands to save electricity, determined to make this simple action always present in every home, every office, business..., become a habit as well as 'walking forever and it will become a road' that writer Lu Xun affirmed, both helping to ensure the supply of electricity, creating a solid foundation for economic development, attracting investment, stabilizing society, and contributing to ensuring energy security for the country".
