Ukrainian 'UAV storm' pours down on Russia; 'Fire pan' in northern Israel heats up Ukrainian president plots 'victory plan'; new storm appears in the Pacific Ocean |
The above comment was made by Dr. Gilbert Doctorow, of Columbia University, an expert on Russia and international relations, on the YouTube channel Judging Freedom.
“ The initial US position and the reasons for its change were related to the successes of the Russian army on the front line in Donbass ,” said Doctorow.
He noted that this month, the Russian military carried out powerful attacks on bases where specialists of the Ukrainian armed forces were trained. According to him, the attack on Poltava, which left dozens of Ukrainian servicemen dead, was Russia's response to Washington's "provocative" steps.

“ We are moving up the ladder of tension. But this has little to do with what President Zelensky wants to achieve for the good of the country, ” Dr. Doctorow added.
Earlier, President Biden said that the issue of allowing the Kiev government to use long-range weapons to strike deep into Russian territory was still being resolved.
According to Reuters, the US plans to transfer long-range air-to-surface cruise missiles JASSM to Ukraine. They could appear in Ukraine in the next few months.
In response to the US move, President Putin said that no one discussed lifting the ban on Ukraine attacking deep into Russian territory.
“ Ukraine attacked Russia with the help of UAVs and other means. But when it comes to using Western-made high-precision long-range weapons, it is a completely different story ,” President Putin said.
He stressed that the West's direct involvement in the conflict in Ukraine would significantly change the nature of the country and would mean that NATO members - the US and European countries - are at war with Russia.
“ Moscow will decide how to respond based on the threats that appear immediately ,” the president declared.
