Ha Giang - a land with many unique geological values and diverse traditional culture - was honored as Asia's leading regional cultural destination.
Nho Que River, Tu San Alley (Meo Vac) are attractive destinations for tourists when coming to Ha Giang.
On September 3, the World Travel Awards (WTA) honored Ha Giang as "Asia's Leading Regional Cultural Destination in 2024". Previously, this land at the head of the country was honored as "Asia's Leading Emerging Tourist Destination in 2023".
Speaking with Lao Dong, Ms. Trieu Thi Tinh - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Giang said that awards such as Cultural Destination, Leading Regional Cultural Destination in Asia are known as the "Oscars of the world tourism industry".
"That is also a testament to the potential, strengths and constant efforts of Ha Giang province in building its image and developing in the right direction, focusing on and sustainably," said Ms. Tinh.
According to the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Giang province, the unique geology, terrain, year-round mild and cool climate and many unique traditional cultural values of the ethnic groups in the area have created an opportunity for Ha Giang to position its tourism brand.
The award shows the potential, strength and constant efforts to renew Ha Giang tourism. The image of Ha Giang has been raised, affirming its important position, not only on the continental level but also gradually reaching out to the international level.
This is considered completely reasonable when Dong Van Stone Plateau has three consecutive times maintained the title of UNESCO Global Geopark Network.
Ha Giang is still known as one of the poorest mountainous border provinces in the country with 19 ethnic groups living there. In particular, Dong Van Stone Plateau with 4 districts (Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Meo Vac and Dong Van) is still known as an area lacking production land and domestic water almost all year round in Ha Giang.
The World Travel Awards has just honored Ha Giang as "Asia's Leading Regional Cultural Destination 2024".
Difficulties always create advantages, the majesty of nature and the rich culture of the indigenous peoples of Ha Giang that very few places in the world have, especially the Dong Van Stone Plateau, have made Ha Giang an unmissable destination for domestic and foreign tourists.
In 2023 alone, Ha Giang province welcomed over 3 million tourists. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at nearly 7,100 billion VND.
In the first 6 months of this year, Ha Giang welcomed about 1.69 million tourists, including nearly 223,000 international visitors, with total tourism revenue estimated at 4,191 billion VND.
Foreign tourists have impressive experiences when coming to Ha Giang.
Ms. Trieu Thi Tinh commented: "The international awards are both a motivation for Ha Giang to continue promoting its values, but also set higher requirements to maintain its brand. That is to continue to raise the level and affirm the locality's position on the regional and international tourism map in the coming time."
Ha Giang province currently focuses on 5 main types of tourism: cultural tourism, eco-tourism, resort tourism, sports - adventure tourism, commercial tourism, border tourism. In particular, Ha Giang 's tourism products are exploited year-round, completely overcoming seasonality and spread evenly across three spaces: Northeast, Southwest and central area.
In particular, the main products throughout the 12 months of the year are the indigenous cultural values of 19 ethnic groups associated with models of cultural tourism villages, majestic natural landscapes and geological and geomorphological values.
