On the morning of June 15, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) held a conference to disseminate communication priorities about UNESCO and Vietnam's participation in UNESCO.
Mr. Trieu Minh Long - Director of the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Information and Communications) affirmed that over the years, Vietnam has always been a proactive, active and responsible member of UNESCO.
"UNESCO's activities are diverse, spanning many fields such as culture, education, science, nature, and are constantly being innovated. Therefore, propaganda work needs to be promoted to inform people about Vietnam's activities and contributions as a member of UNESCO," said Mr. Trieu Minh Long.

Mr. Long said that it is necessary to continue affirming that Vietnam always values culture and identifies culture as the spiritual foundation of society, the goal, resource, and driving force for development.
The Cultural Subcommittee (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) introduced the action plan and propaganda orientation for UNESCO in 2023, emphasizing the task of continuing to perfect the system of legal documents of Vietnam in the field of management and protection of historical - cultural relics, scenic spots in general, and World Cultural and Natural Heritage in particular.
The Culture Subcommittee said that it is developing a draft Law on Cultural Heritage and a draft Decree on management, protection and promotion of intangible cultural heritage values. Providing more information about policies on repatriation of antiquities, Dr. Pham Thi Khanh Ngan - Deputy Head of the Department of Museum Management and Documentary Heritage (Department of Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) affirmed: "The Law on Cultural Heritage will mention the rights and responsibilities of social organizations, individuals and the State in repatriating antiquities. The Law has 4 articles related to repatriation of antiquities" , Dr. Pham Thi Khanh Ngan said.
The draft Law completes regulations on museum activities, protection of relics, antiquities, and national treasures, and has policies to encourage the repatriation of heritage.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is completing the legal framework (adding state management of documentary heritage to the Law on Cultural Heritage and sub-law documents), focusing on inventorying, collecting, managing, developing, and appraising projects and plans to protect and promote the value of documentary heritage.
Ms. Tran Hai Van - Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation said that in the coming time, the Cultural Subcommittee will focus on propaganda and dissemination of UNESCO Conventions such as: Convention on the protection of world cultural and natural heritage, Convention on measures to prohibit the illegal import, export and transfer of ownership of cultural property, Convention on the protection of intangible cultural heritage, Convention on the protection and promotion of the diversity of cultural expressions...
