Rice prices reverse course and fall sharply.

Today, January 14, 2025, rice prices in the Mekong Delta region are fluctuating. Prices for most types of rice are relatively stable, while some fresh paddy prices have reversed course and fallen sharply compared to the end of last week.

Specifically, regarding rice, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, the price of IR 504 raw rice has increased by 100 VND, fluctuating between 7,650 and 7,750 VND/kg; finished IR 504 rice is fluctuating between 9,500 and 9,700 VND/kg.

Regarding by-products, the prices of various by-products range from approximately 5,750 to 7,200 VND/kg. Currently, the price of fragrant rice bran fluctuates between 7,100 and 7,200 VND/kg; the price of dry rice bran fluctuates between 5,750 and 5,850 VND/kg.

Observations in various localities today indicate low rice supply and slow transactions. In Sa Dec ( Dong Thap ), rice is arriving sporadically, warehouses are slow to purchase, and prices have fluctuated slightly compared to yesterday. In Lap Vo - Vam Cong (Dong Thap), the supply is low, and prices vary depending on the quality of the rice.

In Sa Dec market (Dong Thap province), rice supplies are low, warehouses are buying sporadically, and prices for all types of rice remain stable. In An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang province ), rice supplies are sporadic, prices have decreased, there is little good quality rice, and most of the rice is of poor quality.

At retail markets, rice prices remained stable compared to yesterday. Currently, regular rice ranges from 15,000 to 17,000 VND/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice increased by 2,000 VND, ranging from 18,000 to 20,000 VND/kg; Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price at 28,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice is 21,500 VND/kg; Thai fragrant rice is 20,000-22,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice is 22,000 VND/kg; common white rice is 17,500 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice is 21,000 VND/kg; regular Soc rice ranges from 18,000 VND/kg; Soc Thai rice is 21,000 VND/kg; and Japanese rice is 22,500 VND/kg.

Regarding rice, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, the current price of IR 50404 rice (fresh) has decreased by 900 VND compared to the end of last week, fluctuating between 6,200 and 6,400 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice has also decreased by 900 VND, fluctuating between 6,500 and 6,700 VND; OM 18 rice (fresh) fluctuates between 7,600 and 7,800 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice (fresh) fluctuates between 7,600 and 7,800 VND/kg; OM 380 rice is at 6,600-6,700 VND/kg; Nhat rice is at 7,800-8,000 VND/kg; and Nang Hoa 9 is at 9,200 VND/kg.

Observations in many localities today show slow trading activity. In Can Tho, farmers are offering their rice for sale steadily, with only sporadic inquiries about purchasing rice for harvest further in the future. In An Giang, demand from traders remains slow, and rice prices are relatively stable compared to yesterday.

In Dong Thap, trading is slow, with traders inquiring about buying rice that is far from the harvest date but offering low prices. In Bac Lieu, demand has slowed down, there are few buyers, and rice prices are relatively stable.

On the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices remained stable today compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the current price for 5% broken rice is 434 USD/ton; 25% broken rice is 409 USD/ton; and 100% broken rice is 326 USD/ton.
