TPO – As of the afternoon of October 11, the water level measured in Vinh Hung district was 2.33m, 23cm higher than the same period and 8cm higher than the flood peak in 2023; in Tan Hung district it was 2.46m, 36cm higher than the same period and 18cm higher than the flood peak in 2023.
Due to the impact of local rain combined with floods from upstream, in recent days, flood levels in the upstream districts of Long An province have increased rapidly, recorded on October 11 higher than the flood peak in 2023.
The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Long An province forecasts that in the coming days, flood water levels will continue to rise; on rainy days, water levels may rise faster.
Faced with complicated weather conditions, prolonged floods, rains and storms, people need to pay more attention to flood and storm prevention, not be subjective or negligent, regularly monitor the situation of rains and floods, have a response plan ready to minimize the damage caused.
In particular, households living in open fields need to proactively reinforce their houses to prevent drowning in children.
The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue requires localities to regularly inspect and review the system of dykes, embankments, low-lying areas, and vulnerable locations, and urgently reinforce and upgrade them to protect the 2024 Autumn-Winter rice crop.
