On January 26, two tourism service businesses, Lotte Duty Free and Modetour of Korea, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance joint marketing and promote the tourism market in Vietnam.
Information from the business said that in the context of increasingly diverse Vietnamese tourist destinations favored by Koreans such as Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Da Lat, the two companies have cooperated to create synergy such as expanding points of interaction with customers and developing products to serve tourists, combining duty-free shopping and tourism.
In particular, Lotte Duty Free and Modetour plan to cooperate in promoting tourism in Vietnam, and jointly plan and sell package tourism products nationwide. The two parties plan to carry out joint marketing activities such as advertising, using social networking services, and establish close cooperation to ensure development strategies and long-term benefits for both parties.
According to statistics, by 2023, the proportion of visitors from Southeast Asia in the total number of passengers on package tours provided by Modetour will be the highest at 53%. Of which, the proportion of visitors to Vietnam will be the highest among Southeast Asian countries at 44%.
Lotte Duty Free currently operates 4 branches in Vietnam, including: Da Nang airport branch, Nha Trang airport branch, Hanoi airport branch and Da Nang city center branch. In 2023, Lotte Duty Free's revenue in Vietnam increased by 351% compared to the same period in 2022, of which revenue from Korean tourists accounted for about 60%.
Lotte Duty Free’s global operations head Lee Seung-jun said the company is working with Modetour to keep up with the growing demand from domestic customers following the Covid-19 pandemic. To meet customer needs, the company will continue to research and provide special services exclusively for Lotte Duty Free customers.
Meanwhile, Mr. Lee Woo-yeon - head of Modetour's business department in Southeast Asia, said, "Vietnam is the most visited tourist destination by Korean tourists and we hope to be able to provide better services through this business cooperation agreement with Lotte Duty Free."
According to Mr. Lee Woo-yeon, Modetour will continue to cooperate closely with Lotte Duty Free to develop the markets of Vietnam, Guam and Singapore, helping customers enjoy more benefits.
