This morning, January 20, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City solemnly held the Ceremony to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - China diplomatic relations (January 18, 1950 - January 18, 2025) at the City Theater.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Ha Vi - Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam; Mr. Wei Huaxiang - Chinese Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Duong Ngoc Hai - Permanent Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and representatives of agencies under the People's Committee, People's Council and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Duong Ngoc Hai - Permanent Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that over the past 75 years, the Party, State and People of Vietnam and China have always respected and deeply recognized the need to preserve and promote the traditional friendship between the two countries.
Mr. Duong Ngoc Hai emphasized that the close relationship and sustainable cooperation between the two Parties and States was painstakingly built and nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and Chairman Mao Zedong, along with generations of previous leaders, and has become a solid foundation for the continuous development of bilateral relations.
A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that Vietnam is currently China's fourth largest trading partner and continues to hold the position of the largest trading partner in ASEAN. The export turnover between the two countries has reached a historic milestone, surpassing 200 billion USD for the first time (2024).
"With all the friendship, as both comrades and brothers, we would like to send our congratulations to the Chinese people for happiness, prosperity of China, and for greater victories and achievements in the cause of national construction and development. The comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China is increasingly consolidated and developed," Mr. Duong Ngoc Hai emphasized.
Expressing his gratitude to the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City for solemnly organizing the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Mr. Ha Vi - Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam spoke, emphasizing: Ho Chi Minh City is a heroic city, named after the great revolutionary leader of Vietnam. More than 110 years ago, it was here that President Ho Chi Minh left to find a way to save the country, laying a solid foundation for the final victory of the Vietnamese revolution.
Mr. Ha Vi also assessed that nearly 40 years of Vietnam's great renovation and opening up, which also started in Ho Chi Minh City, has contributed significantly to Vietnam's success in following the path of modernization suitable to its own situation.
Regarding the current relationship between the two countries, the Chinese Ambassador affirmed that the achievements in economics, politics, culture and education to date have clearly demonstrated the high importance that the leaders of the two countries attach to the development of China-Vietnam relations. At the same time, it shows the desire to actively deepen and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, which will certainly continue to arouse the enthusiasm of more and more Chinese enterprises to invest and start businesses in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam.
Today, on the new historical journey, China and Vietnam continue to join hands to promote the building of a community with a shared future. Ho Chi Minh City continues to take the lead as a bridge for the traditional friendship between the two countries. Mr. Ha Vi said that the Chinese side affirmed that it will continue to encourage and support capable and reputable enterprises to seek cooperation opportunities in the locality. At the same time, Ho Chi Minh City will also bring Chinese enterprises a fair, transparent and friendly business environment.
On this occasion, Mr. Wei Huaxiang - Chinese Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City also spoke, emphasizing: Vietnam is a country full of hope, Ho Chi Minh City is a dynamic, affectionate, open and inclusive city, where leaders at all levels, departments and people especially value substantive cooperation, cultural exchange activities and people-to-people diplomacy between China and Vietnam.
The Chinese Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City expressed his hope that in the new year and the following years, the two countries will continue to deeply exploit the traditional relationship, the warm and close humanistic exchanges between the two peoples. From there, continue to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperation. The two sides will join hands to build a community of shared future between China and Vietnam, which has strategic significance, opening a new stage of development in the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries.
Also at the Celebration, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee organized many unique cultural and musical performances, demonstrating the exchange in Vietnamese and Chinese culture and art, on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.
