On the evening of August 19, in Long Xuyen City, An Giang Province, a solemn ceremony was held to celebrate the 135th birthday of President Ton Duc Thang (August 20, 1888 - August 20, 2023). Attending the ceremony were comrades: President Vo Van Thuong; former Presidents: Nguyen Minh Triet, Truong Tan Sang, Nguyen Xuan Phuc; former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
Also attending the ceremony were leaders and former leaders of central agencies; leaders of provinces and cities; leaders and former leaders of An Giang province through the periods; Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, veteran revolutionaries, Heroes of the Armed Forces, Heroes of Labor in the renovation period and a large number of An Giang people.

Reading a speech at the ceremony, comrade Le Hong Quang, Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee, reviewed the life, career and revolutionary activities of President Ton Duc Thang.
The speech emphasized: “In more than 70 years of revolutionary activities, President Ton Duc Thang devoted himself entirely to the cause of national liberation, gaining independence and freedom for the country; throughout his life he was diligent, frugal, honest, upright, impartial, wholeheartedly serving the Fatherland and the people. Uncle Ton is a shining example of steadfast will and revolutionary fighting spirit, sacrificing and striving all his life for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for the happiness of the people... Following the example of President Ton Duc Thang, the Party Committee, government and people of An Giang province vow to unite as one, uphold the will of self-reliance, promote the spirit of dynamism and creativity, seize opportunities, overcome difficulties and challenges, and build the province to become increasingly rich, beautiful and civilized”.

At the ceremony, President Vo Van Thuong presented gifts from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the Party Committee, government and people of An Giang province.
The celebration took place with special performances and stage scenes, recreating the life and revolutionary career of President Ton Duc Thang. After the scenes was an art program with the theme "An Giang - Aspiration for Sublimation".
* Earlier, on the morning of August 19, President Vo Van Thuong led a delegation of leaders and former leaders of the Party and State to offer incense in memory of President Ton Duc Thang at the special national relic site of President Ton Duc Thang Memorial Site (My Hoa Hung Commune, Long Xuyen City, An Giang Province). Also participating in the delegation were former Presidents Nguyen Minh Triet, Truong Tan Sang, Nguyen Xuan Phuc; and former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong sent a wreath in memory of President Ton Duc Thang.
At the Memorial Temple in the relic, President Vo Van Thuong and the delegation respectfully offered incense, flowers, and observed a minute of silence to commemorate President Ton Duc Thang, one of the first soldiers of the workers' movement and the Vietnamese proletarian revolutionary movement, who devoted his whole life to the cause of the people's national democratic revolution and socialist revolution.
During his working trip to An Giang province, President Vo Van Thuong and his delegation visited, talked with and presented gifts to the people of Vinh Te advanced rural commune, Chau Doc city. The President asked the people of Vinh Te commune to maintain and sustain the achievements they have made; constantly improve the criteria of an advanced rural commune. At the same time, maintain and promote the cultural life of the village, harmony, friendliness and mutual assistance.
The President noted that the Party Committee, government and people of Vinh Te need to pay more attention to the task of Party building and rectification; must do it regularly, persistently, without stopping to protect the achievements.
Also in Chau Doc City, President Vo Van Thuong visited and presented gifts to Mr. Tran Trong Hieu, President of the Chinese Mutual Aid Association. In recent times, Mr. Tran Trong Hieu has always actively promoted and encouraged the Chinese community living, producing and doing business around Chau Doc City Central Market to comply with the Party's policies and guidelines and the State's laws and policies; actively produce and do business to contribute to the local economic development. The President also visited and presented gifts to a number of policy families and meritorious people in An Giang province.
On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the People's Public Security Forces' Traditional Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2023), on the same morning, President Vo Van Thuong visited and congratulated officers and soldiers of An Giang Provincial Public Security.
Speaking here, President Vo Van Thuong sent his regards and best wishes to all officers and soldiers of the People's Public Security force across the country in general, and the An Giang Provincial Public Security in particular, on the occasion of the force's traditional day.
President Vo Van Thuong also noted that An Giang Provincial Police need to do a good job of mastering the locality, especially the locality with a border area that has many potential complex factors in the task of ensuring political security and preventing crime; avoid being passive and surprised; do a good job of fighting corruption and negativity, contributing to promptly detecting, combating and strictly handling violations in this field.
Along with that, we need to strengthen the protection of internal political security, attach importance to the fight to protect the Party's ideological foundation; prevent the spread of fake news; maintain cultural and ideological security, do a good job of forecasting, and contribute to preserving and protecting a healthy ideological environment, especially from now until the 14th National Party Congress.
