Long An - Tay Ninh: Strengthening cooperation to develop the industry and trade sector

Link to develop together

In recent times, the activities of linking and cooperating in developing industry and trade between Long An and Tay Ninh provinces have carried out many tasks according to the signed plan. In particular, the two provinces have organized connecting activities to act as a "bridge" to help enterprises understand their needs, sign contracts, cooperate in production, business, distribution of goods, participate in stabilizing the market; especially introducing products to consumers of the two provinces. In addition, the two provinces also regularly exchange state management work to help improve the management activities of the Industry and Trade sector of the two provinces.

To develop trade and connect the two provinces' industry and trade sectors more practically and deeply, the leaders of the two units both said that it is necessary to focus on promoting many activities, creating conditions for enterprises and cooperatives of the two localities to cooperate in consuming each other's products, especially typical agricultural products and strengths of each province, such as implementing signed memorandums of understanding and principle contracts; creating favorable conditions for goods of both sides to reach consumers through direct distribution channels to help reduce costs and increase competitiveness in the market.

At the Conference on cooperation in developing the Industry and Trade sector between the three provinces: Long An, Tay Ninh and Tien Giang held at the end of December 2024, the cooperation program signed between Long An and Tay Ninh attracted attention due to its scale and substantial nature, aiming to solve bottlenecks in production, circulation of goods, logistics and trade promotion.

Specifically, the two provinces committed to synchronizing state management work through enhancing information exchange, sharing experiences in market management, product quality control, handling trade fraud and building an inter-regional e-commerce database. At the same time, promoting supply-demand connection activities and expanding the market through trade promotion conferences and trade connection sessions, helping many key products and local specialties such as dragon fruit, seedless lemon, organic rice (Long An), rubber, tapioca starch and cane sugar (Tay Ninh) find stable output in large distribution systems such as Saigon Co.op, Bach Hoa Xanh, Winmart, etc.

In addition, the two localities also coordinated to build a list of joint investment invitations in adjacent industrial parks and clusters; at the same time, planned to develop key industrial and commercial infrastructure such as logistics centers, wholesale markets and warehouse systems serving import and export.

According to Director of the Department of Industry and Trade - Huynh Van Quang Hung, the cooperation activities in recent times have helped many production and consumption enterprises of the two provinces to understand the needs, sign contracts, cooperate in production, business, distribution of goods, participate in stabilizing the market; especially, introduce typical and characteristic products of each locality to consumers in and outside the province as well as the whole country.

“We do not consider cooperation as a formal activity but consider it as part of the local economic development strategy. Long An commits to accompanying Tay Ninh in sharing market data, connecting production chains as well as coordinating quality control and promoting product consumption in a systematic and modern manner,” Mr. Huynh Van Quang Hung affirmed.

Recently, the Department of Industry and Trade of Long An province organized a sports festival to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 74th anniversary of the Industry and Trade sector's Traditional Day (May 14, 1951 - May 14, 2025). This event also had the participation of the Department of Industry and Trade of Tay Ninh province. This shows the solidarity between the two units, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity, exchange, learning and mutual development.

Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade - Chau Thi Le said: "The sports festival is not only an opportunity for officials, civil servants, public employees and workers to exercise and improve their sportsmanship, but also an opportunity to strengthen the relationship and enhance the cooperative relationship between the Department of Industry and Trade of Long An province and the Department of Industry and Trade of Tay Ninh province and enterprises in the province".

Towards sustainable development

In the coming time, the Industry and Trade sectors of the two provinces will continue to synchronously implement cooperation in all fields, focusing on calling for investment in exploiting fields and industries in which each locality has advantages such as processing industry, supporting industry, mechanical industry serving agriculture, export processing industry, import substitution industry, industrial clusters, renewable energy, e-commerce, digital economy; mobilize and support enterprises to learn about and expand investment, production and business cooperation; encourage enterprises to use each other's products to build a stable supply chain of goods, meeting the requirements of production and business development of enterprises.

Mobilize and support enterprises to participate in trade promotion activities in the two provinces, connect supply and demand of goods; the program of bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas, industrial zones and clusters to promote and consume products and goods, expand the wholesale and retail distribution network of goods in the two provinces; participate in market stabilization.

In addition, the two units also coordinate to exchange information on policy development on industrial promotion and supporting industry, in consulting on management and development of logistics services; promote the exchange of information and practical experience on state management in the field of industry and trade, planning and development plans in the industry.

It can be affirmed that the cooperation in developing the industry and trade sector between Long An and Tay Ninh provinces in recent times has achieved many positive results, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the two localities.

Mr. Hung Van Quang Hung emphasized: “At the 11th Conference, the 13th Party Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Central Committee passed a resolution to merge provinces and cities, in which Tay Ninh province merged with Long An province, named Tay Ninh and the administrative center was located in Long An. The Central Government's policy of merging provinces is a strategic step with a long-term vision. I believe that, with the tradition of dynamism, creativity and aspiration to rise of Long An and Tay Ninh, the industry and trade sector of the province after the merger will make a strong breakthrough, contributing to making the locality an important economic center of the Southern region”./.
