Long An is aggressively implementing various solutions to improve transportation infrastructure connecting Ho Chi Minh City, neighboring localities, and border areas adjacent to Cambodia, aiming to create momentum for accelerated growth and breakthroughs. Simultaneously, the province is speeding up the construction of Ring Road 3; the parallel axis to Ring Road 4, from the Ho Chi Minh City-Trung Luong Expressway interchange to Provincial Road 830E; and the Duc Hoa arterial road connecting Provincial Roads 822, 823, 823B, and 825 with Ho Chi Minh City…
Simultaneously, Long An is implementing pre-feasibility procedures for the Ring Road 4 project, a 74.5km section passing through the province; the Luong Hoa provincial road connecting Binh Chanh (Ho Chi Minh City); and National Highway 50B connecting Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, and Tien Giang. In addition, the Ministry of Transport is finalizing procedures to upgrade and expand National Highway 62 to a Class III road in the plains, running from Tan An city to the Binh Hiep International Border Gate (Kien Tuong town, Long An), with a length of 76km.
The Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project has a total length of approximately 76.34km, passing through Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Long An provinces. The section through Long An province alone is 6.84km long, with a total investment of over 4,208 billion VND for land acquisition and construction. After 10 months of construction, contractors have completed over 30% of the work, meeting the planned schedule. The goal is to open the expressway section to traffic in October 2025 and the entire project in 2026, as directed by the Government.

Many of the support pillars for installing the elevated bridge girders of Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 3 through Long An province have been completed. |
The Provincial Road 830E project (parallel to Ho Chi Minh City's Ring Road 4), with a length of 9.351 km and a total investment of over 3,700 billion VND for land acquisition and construction, is also being actively implemented. By early June 2024, the locality had achieved 86.3% of land acquisition, with the remaining portion awaiting support policies and resettlement arrangements. Regarding the Duc Hoa arterial road connecting Provincial Roads 822, 823, 823B, and 825 with Ho Chi Minh City, construction units are accelerating progress, striving to complete the project in time to celebrate the Long An Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030, and the 14th National Party Congress.
In addition to key transportation projects currently under construction in Long An, the Ministry of Transport is proceeding with procedures to upgrade and expand National Highway 62 to a Class III road in the plains, with a total length of 76km, scheduled to commence in 2025. The upgrading and expansion of National Highway 62 is a long-awaited project of the governments and people of Long An, Tien Giang, and Dong Thap provinces, aiming to create momentum for socio-economic development, especially border trade in the Dong Thap Muoi region. It will also serve as an effective transportation artery connecting the Binh Hiep border gate (Long An) with the Prey Voa border gate (Cambodia). Furthermore, the Ministry of Planning and Investment is submitting a proposal to the Prime Minister for approval of a new project to build the National Highway 50B connecting Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, and Tien Giang. The total investment for this project is approximately 4,797 billion VND. According to Dang Hoang Tuan, Director of the Long An Department of Transport, all ongoing transportation projects in the province, once completed and put into use, will alleviate traffic congestion at the gateway to Long An province bordering Ho Chi Minh City. Resolving this bottleneck will create favorable conditions for Long An and other provinces in the Mekong Delta to attract investment, fostering socio-economic development and realizing the aspiration for sustainable development. To ensure the timely completion of key projects, Long An provincial leaders continuously inspect land clearance, construction, and resettlement arrangements for households whose land has been handed over for construction. Nguyen Minh Lam, Vice Chairman of the
Long An Provincial People's Committee, stated that the Provincial People's Committee has directed localities with projects to expedite land clearance, quickly hand over land to construction units, and promptly arrange resettlement for households that have received compensation for land clearance.

At the same time, the province requested the construction unit to accelerate the project's progress, especially the synchronized coordination between the investor, the construction unit, and the localities implementing the project. The Department of Transport directed the Project Management Board to regularly inspect and supervise the project, and to immediately report any difficulties or obstacles to the provincial leaders for consideration and resolution. Long An Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Duoc requested the Party committees and authorities of the localities through which the project passes to promptly carry out the land clearance work effectively; focusing on dialogue with households subject to forced eviction. The Long An Department of Natural Resources and Environment proactively coordinated with relevant departments and agencies to complete the procedures in accordance with the law and submit them to the Provincial People's Committee for submission to the Provincial People's Council for approval. The Provincial People's Committee directs relevant departments and agencies to support and coordinate with the investor to complete land procedures, resolve obstacles in disbursing funds for project implementation, and at the same time, urgently and decisively implement the provincial planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, according to the core orientation of forming "3 regions - 1 center - 2 corridors and 6 axes". Long An is ready with a new mindset and new determination to accelerate towards the finish line, successfully achieving the goals set forth in the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress. This large-scale construction site will be the "golden key" for Long An to accelerate the realization of its aspiration to become a dynamic, efficient, and sustainably developed economic center in the southern key economic region by 2025.
