Over the years, all levels and sectors of Long An province have always paid attention to implementing policies to support and help people with revolutionary contributions, including building and repairing houses.

In recent years, many policy households have received housing support, but over time, the houses have deteriorated and the quality is not guaranteed. On April 17, 2024, the People's Committee of Long An province issued Plan No. 1209/KH-UBND on supporting the construction and repair of gratitude houses in the province.

Accordingly, the province has completed the implementation of support for the construction and repair of 213 houses for people with revolutionary contributions in the province from funds contributed from salaries and incomes of party members, cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers and enterprises in the province.

In addition to the provincial support plan, Kien Tuong district, town and Tan An city have mobilized to build and repair 59 gratitude houses in the localities.

In order to promptly deploy and implement Decision No. 21/2024/QD-TTg, dated November 22, 2024 of the Prime Minister on the level of support for new construction or renovation and repair of houses for people with meritorious services to the revolution, relatives of martyrs and the rate of allocation of support capital from the central budget, the rate of support capital from the local budget, recently, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Pham Tan Hoa signed and issued a decision approving the Project on housing support for people with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of martyrs facing housing difficulties in the province in 2025.

The project clearly states that supporting people with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives to improve their housing is the responsibility of the whole society.

The goal of the Project is to resolve and support all cases of people with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives facing housing difficulties by 2025, based on the results of reviewing and evaluating the list of households eligible for housing support in the province that have been examined and approved.

According to statistics, the whole province currently has 118 households of meritorious people and martyrs' relatives in need of housing support; of which 35 households need to build new houses and 83 households need to repair.

Specifically, in 15 districts, towns and cities, only Ben Luc district has no cases requiring support under the Project. The remaining are Duc Hue district with 26 households, Tan Hung district with 23 households, Vinh Hung district with 11 households, Duc Hoa district with 11 households, Tan Thanh district with 9 households, Thanh Hoa district with 9 households, Moc Hoa district with 5 households, Kien Tuong town with 4 households, Can Giuoc district with 4 households, Tan Tru district with 4 households, Tan An city with 3 households, Can Duoc district with 3 households, Chau Thanh district with 3 households, Thu Thua district with 3 households.

The support level applied by Long An province is higher than the general regulation to suit local geological conditions. Specifically, each household building a new house will be supported with 100 million VND; while households renovating or repairing houses will be supported with 50 million VND. The total cost of implementing the project is more than 7.67 billion VND, mobilized from the central and local budgets and the provincial Gratitude Fund .

Housing support is carried out according to the motto "State support, community help, households contribute", ensuring that the projects meet quality and sustainable standards.

For newly built houses, the minimum requirement is a usable area of 30m2 (for single households, it is 24m2 ) and must meet the "3 hard" standards (hard floor, hard frame - wall, hard roof) with a minimum durability of 20 years.

The repaired house must meet the "2 hard" standard (hard frame - hard wall, hard roof) with a life span of 10 years or more.

Supporting people with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives to improve their housing is the responsibility of the whole society.

The project aims to complete all support for the construction and repair of charity houses before October 31, 2025. The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to act as the standing agency, coordinating with relevant departments and branches to deploy and implement.

At the same time, socio-political organizations, local authorities and communities are mobilized to ensure the progress, quality and effectiveness of the program.

The implementation of this Project not only demonstrates the spirit of "repaying gratitude", but also contributes to improving the lives, creating conditions for people with revolutionary contributions and martyrs' relatives to have stable housing, peace of mind to develop their lives, thereby contributing to the overall development of Long An province./.
