On the afternoon of June 2, Tam Binh District Police (Vinh Long) announced that the investigation agency had issued a decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Nguyen Ngoc Khoa (47 years old, residing in Song Phu commune) to investigate the act of "Abusing and torturing his wife".

According to the initial investigation results, Song Phu Commune Police received a report accusing the defendant Khoa of abusing his wife in Phu Truong Yen Hamlet. The victim was Ms. LTH (47 years old, from Cai Rang, Can Tho City), Mr. Khoa's wife.
Specifically, on the afternoon of May 29, defendant Khoa brutally beat his wife with a broom. The incident was witnessed by Mr. Khoa’s relatives. At that time, Mr. Khoa’s relatives were said to have tried to stop him but failed, so they used their phones to record the clip and posted it on social media.
The leaders of Tam Binh District Police have directed the professional teams to quickly coordinate with Song Phu Commune Police to urgently verify and investigate. When the authorities arrived at the house to investigate, Mr. Khoa was still drunk and his wife's whereabouts were unknown.

By the morning of May 31, Mr. Khoa was conscious and working with investigators. At the police station, Mr. Khoa admitted to repeatedly beating his wife. Initially, suspect Khoa stated that because Ms. H. complained about her husband lending money to someone else but had not yet gotten it back, he brutally beat his wife with a broom.
Ms. H. also went to the police station and said that her husband had beaten her many times. Upon examination, it was determined that the victim had many scratches and bruises on her body.
