As Thanh Nien reported, at 7:00 p.m. on June 15, the Investigation Police Agency of Hung Yen Province arrested Nong Van Nhan (33 years old, residing in Tan Lang Commune, Phu Yen District, Son La Province). Nhan was identified as the suspect in the murder of Ms. Nguyen Thi Ng. (43 years old, residing in Hong Thai Village, Lac Hong Commune, Van Lam District, Hung Yen Province).
At the investigation agency, Nhan confessed that on the evening of June 10, Nhan slept in a sewer pipe area near the road overpass, from Trung Trac commune to Lac Hong commune (in Van Lam district). At around 1:00 a.m. on June 11, Nhan woke up. Because he had no money, Nhan came up with the idea of wandering around looking for loopholes in houses, boarding houses, etc. to steal property.
When passing by Mrs. Ng's tea shop on National Highway 5 (in Lac Hong commune, from Hai Phong to Hanoi), Nhan saw Mrs. Ng sleeping. He crawled through the gap in the canvas net and went inside. Nhan woke Mrs. Ng up and pretended to buy some water.
Police took statement from Nong Van Nhan
Taking advantage of the moment when Ms. Ng. was sitting on the bench to get her change, the subject suddenly rushed up, stood right behind her, and used his hands to strangle her until she was completely motionless.
After that, Nhan rummaged through and took a yellow iPhone XR, a pair of gold metal earrings and more than 2 million VND, then fled to Thuong Tin District (Hanoi City) until he was discovered and arrested by the police.
Nhan is a drug addict, unemployed, homeless, has no fixed residence, and specializes in collecting bottles and scrap metal to sell.
The Investigation Police Agency of Hung Yen Province is continuing to consolidate records and evidence to clarify the crimes of murder and robbery of Nong Van Nhan.
