Many universities will organize their own exams in 2025 with the expectation of expanding enrollment and making many changes in line with the 2018 General Education Program.
Up to now, in addition to the high school graduation exam, a series of schools have organized their own exams for enrollment in 2025 such as: the capacity assessment exam of Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University; the thinking assessment exam of Hanoi University of Science and Technology; the capacity assessment exam of Hanoi Pedagogical University; the specialized capacity assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City Pedagogical University; the V-SAT exam; separate exams of universities in the police and military sectors...
Most universities that will hold their own entrance exams in 2025 are expected to expand their enrollment scale and make many changes in line with the 2018 General Education Program.
From 2025, the specialized competency assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education will continue to be conducted with exams in Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature and English.
It is expected that the scale of the exam will be expanded, not only to serve the school's admission work but also for other universities.
The school plans to organize 3-5 exam sessions at many exam locations with over 30,000 candidates. The results of this exam will be used by the school to recruit 40-50% of the admission quota. The remaining quota will be considered based on the 2025 high school graduation exam scores, with priority given to recruiting specialized students and direct admission (national and international awards).
In 2025, the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's thinking assessment exam will be held in 3 rounds at 30 testing locations. In addition to the 12 provinces and cities as in 2024, the school will open an additional testing location in Lao Cai province for the convenience of candidates in the Northwestern provinces.
The school has opened the portal for candidates to register for the first round of exams on December 1, 2024. Head of Admissions and Career Guidance, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Duy Hai said that in the first round (from December 1 to 6), there were about 15,000 - 16,000 candidates registered, 5 times higher than last year. The reason is that this year Hanoi University of Science and Technology organized 3 rounds of thinking assessment exams instead of 6 rounds like last year. Although the number of exams has been reduced, the number of candidates registering has increased, so it is expected that there will still be about 70,000 turns.
The 2025 National University of Ho Chi Minh City’s competency assessment exam will be held in two rounds, scheduled for March 30 and June 1, in 25 provinces and cities. This exam is expected to have more than 100 universities and colleges using the results for admission, mainly at the undergraduate level.
Similarly, the 2025 competency assessment exam of Hanoi National University is also expected to have nearly 100 universities and academies using the exam results for admission.
Regarding the competency assessment test, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao - Director of the Testing Center - organizing the Competency Assessment Test of Hanoi National University said that the school will have strict requirements and technical standards to ensure quality.
Therefore, the school cautiously expanded the scale of the exam but continuously applied advanced technology to exploit and make maximum use of exam results to serve university admission candidates.
In addition to the above exams, Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 has announced plans to organize its own exam and use the results of this exam for admission consideration.
The advantage of these separate exams is that they create more opportunities for candidates to be admitted; at the same time, they also help schools be more proactive in selecting suitable students.
However, in the context of the current "hundred flowers blooming" of separate exams, many experts assess that, besides the positive aspects, separate exams also have consequences such as increasing pressure on students because they have to review and take another exam; neglecting their studies and taking the high school graduation exam when they have been admitted through separate exams...
At the recent conference summarizing the high school graduation exam for the period 2020-2024, Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training), said that the Ministry will issue specific regulations on State management in the enrollment regulations to ensure inspection and supervision of the quality of the separate exam.
The process of building a question bank; the test questions must not exceed the 2018 General Education Program. This point is very important and to prevent students from having to review for separate exams, which can disrupt teaching and learning in general schools.
The announcement of early admission results must be made after the end of the program and school year plan, which is May 31 every year. The benchmark scores for early admission methods must be announced after this time to avoid affecting the high school graduation exam and students' studies.
