Series of events celebrating 25 years of Hoi An and My Son as world heritage sites

(NLDO) – On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of being recognized by UNESCO as World Cultural Heritage, Hoi An and My Son organized many meaningful activities.

On November 13, Mr. Nguyen Cong Khiet - Director of the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board (Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province) - said that the unit has issued a plan to organize activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of My Son Temple Complex being recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage (December 4, 1999 - December 4, 2024), Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23), towards the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Management Board.

Accordingly, on November 29, Duy Xuyen District People's Committee coordinated with the Central Institute of Social Sciences to organize a workshop "My Son Temple Complex and World Cultural Heritages in the Central Region: Reserves and Prospects".

Previously, on November 22, the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board organized an exchange activity to share experiences among conservationists at the two heritage sites of My Son Temple Complex and Hoi An Ancient Town.

The My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board also published the second edition of the My Son Cultural Heritage information booklet with the theme: "My Son Cultural Heritage: 25 Years in Review".

In particular, on December 3, the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board will hold a ceremony to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the My Son Temple Complex being recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage. In addition, cultural, artistic and sports activities will be held to celebrate.

Recently, the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board has launched many new products to meet the needs of tourists.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Khiet said the activities were organized to evaluate the work of preserving and promoting the value of My Son Temple Complex since it was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage; draw lessons and long-term orientations to sustainably protect My Son Cultural Heritage, contributing positively to the socio-economic development of the locality.

In addition, it is necessary to strengthen the promotion and cooperation in the management, conservation and promotion of the value of My Son Heritage; to show gratitude and honor organizations and individuals who have made positive contributions to the cause of preserving and developing the sustainable My Son Cultural Heritage.

Hoi An will offer free admission to visitors on December 4, the 25th anniversary of its recognition by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage.

On this occasion, Hoi An City People's Committee also organized many activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Hoi An Ancient Town being recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage, with events lasting from November 23 to December 4.

Specifically, Hoi An City will organize a seminar on "Celebrity Dang Huy Tru with Hoi An" and "Imprints on the journey of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage values ​​of Hoi An Ancient Town"; publish a research information book on 25 years of heritage preservation; exhibition "Hoi An Heritage through paintings" by artist Luu Cong Nhan; display photos on the topics "Hoi An through the eyes of the door", Hoi An and the activities "Learning about Monuments through books", "World Cultural Heritage of Hoi An Ancient Town - 25 years of preservation and promotion".

Hoi An is an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists.

In addition, Hoi An also organizes the contest "We with heritage", the cross-country race "For world cultural heritage - Hoi An 2024", builds and announces a civilized commercial street, opens the Local Products Museum...

Notably, on December 4, Hoi An City will offer free admission to Hoi An Ancient Town for all visitors.
