Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Quy Kien recently signed a decision to inspect mineral exploitation and environmental protection activities in mineral activities for a number of licenses issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in Lang Son province.
The inspection period is 25 days from the date of announcement of the inspection decision.
Organizations and enterprises in Lang Son that will be inspected include: Hai Duong Grinding Stone Joint Stock Company (Tan My Commune, Van Lang District); Hong Phong Cement Joint Stock Company (Binh Trung Commune, Cao Loc District); Viet Bac Mining Industry Corporation - Vinacomin (Na Duong Town and Tu Doan, Dong Quan, San Vien Communes, Loc Binh District); Bac Giang Cement Joint Stock Company (Dong Tien Commune, Huu Lung District).
The decision was made in the context of a series of businesses and units in Lang Son province being fined for environmental protection issues.
Specifically, on November 21, VICMET Vietnam Metallurgical Technology Company Limited (Tan Hoa village, Ho Son commune, Huu Lung district) was fined 140 million VND by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
The reason this company was fined was because it did not fully implement the content of periodic monitoring of dust and industrial emissions according to the content of the environmental license. It did not monitor silica dust parameters for emissions in the third and fourth quarters of 2022.
On the same day, the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment also issued a decision to impose an administrative penalty on Bac Bo Non-ferrous Metal Joint Stock Company (Hoang Van Thu Ward, Lang Son City) with Mr. Nguyen Tien Bien as Director.
This company violated the implementation of one of the contents of the environmental license as prescribed. The company installed a gas pipeline from the lead smelter exhaust gas treatment system to the reverberatory furnace exhaust gas treatment system to treat the exhaust gas because the lead smelter exhaust gas treatment system had degraded. According to regulations, these two gas pipelines must be separated.
Previously, on November 10, Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Le Vu Tuan Anh signed a decision to impose an administrative penalty on Lang Son Provincial General Hospital (Dai Son village, Hop Thanh commune, Cao Loc district) directed by Mr. Truong Quy Truong.
This hospital violated the regulations on dust and gas emissions containing hazardous environmental parameters (Dioxin/furan = 4.78ng TEQ/Nm3) exceeding the technical standards on waste by 2.07 times with an emission flow of 995m3/h.
For the above violation, Lang Son General Hospital was administratively fined 120 million VND. Forced to pay the cost of consulting for environmental sample analysis for 1 sample of exhaust gas exceeding the regulations with the amount of more than 44 million VND. Thus, the total amount this hospital must pay is more than 164 million VND.
Director of Lang Son General Hospital Truong Quy Truong must strictly comply with this penalty decision. If the hospital fails to voluntarily comply within the time limit, it will be forced to comply according to the law.
